Re: Fun Videos
Hey we had one of those when I was a kid. Medium green I believe. Dad would drop the top and take a load of us riding in the summers. Later on he pulled the engine and put it in a Nash Ambassador of about the same year. I don't recall what happened to the 'vert. Bathtub cars.

Re: Fun Videos
That's interesting. I never rode in one or remember knowing anyone owning one. I'm sure they were running around. I think they're cool but I was never too focused on them. They remind me of potato bugs. How about 30 mpg in 1950?

Re: Fun Videos
Our car had factory OD so that helps to explain the mpg in the 50s.
|
Re: Fun Videos
That was an option. They said O/D gave better mileage than 30 mpg. In 1950, the first year, they were all convertibles. They were the first cars with seatbelts and they were standard. So were whitewalls, wheel covers, clock, radio, and cloth upholstery. I only remember seeing them on TV. I think I didn't pay them any mind out on the road. I didn't like the wheel openings because I didn't like skirts on cars. I liked gassers with cut out wheel openings and big fat slicks sticking out! Louis Lane drove one on the Superman show. I used to refer to those roly-poly bug cars as Superman era cars. We knew people with Metropolitans. I liked those and saw them a lot

Re: Fun Videos
For some reason this was the first video suggested (well, second after the first that is always an advertisement) on YouTube and I thank them. Art Carney in the dawn of his career. Before television!

Re: Fun Videos
One of my favorite YouTube subscriptions , probably my number 1, is Destination Adventure. Up to this point it has been on topic with him covering his travels with his added flair of personality. He runs an older motorhome he had to overhaul and now has a great inflatable. This winter he has begun a journey into a new element of adventure with the building of a true adventure rig using his dad's retired Dodge he used in his timber business. This guy just gets more relevant to my likes with each video. I hope you all will feel the same.
Here are a couple vids on this truck build, one at the beginning and one near the end. I hope you enjoy |

I have a thing for Pontiacs. Only ever had one and wish I had kept it. I'd settle for this one
Great quality video right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztEeh...aWRlbyAjODI%3D |

Re: Fun Videos
Are they known for being feisty? There were Corgi Toy cars I had as a kid. Wouldn't think they'd name something for kids after a dog known to be like that.
I just love the Pontiacs. Watch this one take some Mopars for a walk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVKt1...cmV5Zm9nZWw%3D |

;) That's the one from ebay that was found in a storage shed near me. Final sale was $250,431.63. Add a $100k Scott Tiemann restoration on top of that. K |

A Lemans convertible, that my sister now has, http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...5.jpg~original and this coupe, which dad was going to clone into a Super Duty, like the one shown above. Upon his passing, Dad gave it to a family friend who has been enjoying it (and getting a lot of exposure) as is. I hadn't seen that brown car in about 17 years. I happened to be at a show last spring when it came rolling in. I was talking to a guy and he got distracted with something taking place behind me. "I like those little cars" he said. I said "oh - we've had a couple of those" and then as the realization hit "....like THAT EXACT ONE!". K |

Re: Fun Videos
Here is a YouTube I just watched. This guy goes all over where I've been going to work, mostly, this past year. I just was in Boring today, drove past that High's store where he got gas, and that stone foundation/abandoned house/bridge on Klee Mill Rd coming home. Woodbine is where I grab my crab cakes. That's the South Fork of the Patapsco which begins outside of Mt. Airy. Then he's at the Patuxent River and doesn't realize it's a different river. That also begins just outside of Mt. Airy about a mile from s. fork of Patapsco. The title says "across state" when he just went from the NE corner of my county to the SW corner
