Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Painted the back of my new chrome grill, and straightened and painted the brackets. Here's a tip of how to install a new grill. Align the holes with a punch and then clamp them with a vice grips. then pop rivet them in. I had trouble because there were bent. I painted behind the grill to protect it from rust. I also cleaned up the Cragers. They do look good. I think I'll keep them after all. :metal:

If I were you I would get rid of the grill. It just is'nt you.;) I don't think it does anything for the truck. I liked the other one you had. It's not really doing thing different. All that said you can send it to me. It's in really good condition.:lol: How do u type inbetween the pictures?

To be honest I cant say I really like the bow tie right now. I think it you put the bumper and hood on with the lights it might look better, But right now I'm not feeling it. So I say send it to Dave and send me the Cragers.

I install the lights, and took off the Bowtie. I think it looks better without. I'm thinking of bullets across the middle.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Vette grill is way too expensive. But I thought about it. I think the bullets will set off the chrome on the grill.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

before you mentioned the bullets i was thinking a vertical grille from soda straw thick pieces of chromed roundbar welded in a flatbar "windowframe" the same way they usually make the grilles for a 40s rod
it would look simulair to the vette grill but a lot finer and closer together , could give them a litle bend out too ..... but again you can only see how that would work when the hood is on the car

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

I'm thinking of a metal bed floor from a doner newer truck bed with inner fenders. What do you guys think? Remember "Cheap Build". I just saw one at a Wrecking Yard. It was crushed on top of the bed, but the floor looked good. It might be cheap.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Why not? You've done all the other mods, why stop now. ;)

Strodder 03-16-2011 10:38 PM

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

It should be a hell of a lot cheaper than a wood floor. :uhmk:
I'll have to measure it and see what they want for it.

use the enter key to separate the pictures and then type in the space

Dennis-- I forget-- is that a short bed??

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

I think the start of the fender openings is a little farther back, but if the donor truck is a long bed , then it could be cut down to fit a short bed easily . Then Rhino coat the darn thing and no one will know.......
