Zoomin... the screw and brass clip are out of sight because the carpet rolls behind the carpet that is actually seen, so it's actually like a fold. The inside folded piece is the side that gets screwed into, so there is the other draping piece of carpet that covers this fold and pieces. The big piece of draping carpet just covers up the small folded area, and just hangs to the floor. Does that make sense? If my mac had a paint program, I would draw out a quick sketch to explain it. Yep, I don't have a paint program on my mac or I would have drawn it out quickly like that. It goes like this so you don't see the tabs, but it still has a clean look to it. Trevor

Sorry about the long posts about this topic VA on your build thread. Trevor

No problem at all. :chevy: I appreciate the info. I'm learning from it and hope others do too!

I received my parts shipment from Cheyenne super man today. Thrilled about some of the parts and not as much on others...will call him and see what we can do...

....I'll post some pictures later tonight!

The woodgrain on the door panels looks awesome and it matches perfectly to the bezel and glovebox door. What I'm not thrilled with are the cuts around the bezel holes on the bezel and edges on it and the glovebox door. Almost like a dull blade was used and not a perfect fit. I've seen some he did that looked like NOS so that's what I was expecting. Overall they look great but if you look closely there are just some minor things that bugged me....

By the time I got everything unpacked (he did an awesome job packaging it all for shipping) It was too late to catch him so I left a message. Hope we can get the little details ironed out tomorrow. Overall, like I said, I'm happy and man, this stuff looks good in pictures :D

It really is going to be a SUPER awesome interior (pun intended)
In addition to the woodgrain, I got an awesome console and AM/FM from him.
And I got more of my bead blasted parts in today too :chevy:

I am going to go at least a few thousand over my original planned budget for the truck....but I'm doing so because the truck is really nice and with these awesome parts, it'll be a show quality on truck. I feel it will be on par with some of the other SWB BB super's I've seen sell for 50K+ Not that I expect that kind of price for this in the current economy or gas situation....but just that the truck is going to be THAT nice!!!

Here are the pics

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

Well, going to be delayed a day or so getting over for patch panel welding due to weather. Good news is I'm going to be getting a rust free 72 passenger door and rust free original fenders with all the trim soon. Sold a bunch of parts including some locally so I freed up some more cash for parts for the super. Sorry there isn't much action recently other than parts buying :D I thought it would be under the knife by now ;)

Thanks!

Tranny round 2..."new" 400 picked up this evening. going to be getting the old one back and the guy I bought the new one from is giving me a $100 core charge for it. So I end up paying 225 for a rebuild Th400 with a shift kit so not a bad deal all in all....and it's a correct early one...the other one was a 78.

Got some more parts in :D Pictures later tonight or tomorrow.

Going out in the garage to do some grinding to investigate on the cab.

Well, it's confirmed once again....I'm a doofus!!!:devil::waah::sumo:

Anyone notice my new 400 doesn't look like a 400? It's a stinking T350. When I got it I never even looked at the pan. I questioned the guy about the placement of pieces of it but didn't look at the stinking pan....

Well, we'll see if the guy will take it back and refund my cash but I'm guessing I'll be trying to sell this on craigslist now and find a real 400. Can't believe I didn't notice....the whole time....even power washing it. Tranny guy took one look at it and recognized it. DOH!!!!

Live and learn. I responded to an ad advertising a T400 and just assumed it was...we talked trucks and muscle cars for a bit, cash was exchanged and I loaded it in my van and away I went. Man I am so steamed at myself!!!

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

Yep...I just trust people too much sometimes :whine:

Oh well...I'll find another one and hopefully things will work out with returning or selling this one....

The other reason I'm a little bummed tonight is I took out the front and rear windshields. The front looks really good. Some heavy surface rust in both corners but the metal is good. I'll clean that area up, put some rust converter on it, and it'll be done.

The rear lower window frame is going to need some work. It's got about 6 little rust holes in it. The good news is I have a cab I can cut up for patches. I'll probably get more for the other cab as patches anyways. So that'll be part of my day tomorrow.

There is one other rust spot on the cab around the passenger side firewall. Overall this is a super nice cab for this area. Floor is great other than right by the a-pillar, and roof/windshield area are clean.

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super Short Fleet Big Block build!

To end the day on a good note :D I am going to work on sanding the cab tomorrow and have two people coming by to purchase parts so that'll help with the build.

Speaking of parts:

NOS A/C controller

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...B/IMG_5605.jpg

NOS LH Outer door handle

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...B/IMG_5603.jpg

Super nice Tilt column- will end up sell the one in the cab now as I know nothing about it and the arms are long gone...

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...B/IMG_5606.jpg

NOS 72 sport mirrors (pair)

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...B/IMG_5602.jpg

Passenger bucket seat mounts

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...B/IMG_5601.jpg

And some literature I've been collecting. I'm looking for anything related to 72 trucks. Really looking for the brochures that show the cheyenne and cheyenne super options in them. I have the highlander ones....looking for the cheyenne ones (if they made one)
