Don't feel too bad. I am always suspicious of "rust free trucks" because once you get into the bodywork, there always seems to be rust. Particularly in the rockers.
This came out of New Mexico. "Rust free-runs great" until I stripped the paint. Floors had rot. Rockers were full of bondo. Fortunately the rest of it was pretty good. Frame was bent and took quite a bit of effort to straighten it. I had a fellow gearhead inspect it prior to me buying it, and he did not have a clue what to look for. But try to find a short bed stepper 1967 with a side mount spare, 283 and a 4 speed. Not easily done. Here's my '67 after paint. |

Re: Post your short step side pics
What a bunch of nice steppers...mine is sort of the other end of the spectrum..., but it’s a daily driver, and I work at a COOP, dirt lot, lots of truck traffic...it doesn’t make sense to fix it up....
https://oi1064.photobucket.com/album...skrlozvov.jpeg At work, taking fuel measurements and pump readings...this is after installing new drop coils and shocks...the previous owner cut and or torched the originals, and it rode like a under sprung manure truck.... https://oi1064.photobucket.com/album...stzrmxzxr.jpeg |

This was the same model/engine and color as my first vehicle back in HS in 1982 Looked long and hard for this truck. Spent the last 6 months working on it. Thanks to all on this forum, pretty much anything I needed, I was able to find on there. Must say the 5 speed that the previous owner put in is pretty nice. I have the three speed and may someday put it back in.

Re: Post your short step side pics
I love your truck. If you don't mine my asking is this a 250 or 292. I'm in the process of installing a 292 (was a 250) in mine with the vintage air and the same mount for the air compressor. I would like to install an electronic ignition with external coil, hope I have room. Did you need a 3 grove harmonic balancer for the air, power steering, and Alt?

Here are a couple of pictures of mine, it's just coming back from the paint shop. Going to add the 292 with a 200-4R along with Vintage Air.

Here's mine. Picked it up this fall on Facebook marketplace. Just fixing up some small things to make it my own. It now has rally wheels and whitewalls. Paint is "Sage" enamel.

I built this on here on this site in 2007. Sold it right after the build to a fella in California. Has anyone ever seen this one or know who owns it. Just wondering what happens to them when I sell them. Just about to let another one go.
