Slick idea and well executed!

That’s a really nice way to keep the original cluster. I also battled with the S10 gauges to reuse them, but I am not really happy with what I have so far. Those Bosch units came out looking really nice. If I can’t improve on what I have, I think I will try what you did. Nice work!!!

That is what I tried to do with my S10 gauges, but should have done it with new gauges, like you did.

Well Done

Thanks guys I spent a long time trying to figure out what to do, when I came across this idea I figured I could do my own take on it. I definitely will be doing something like this again.

Today I got the 2.5" mandrel stainless exhaust tacked together with another one of my turbo mufflers. The muffler is a stainless baffled straight trough design. I have had one on my diesel Jeep for a year and my diesel Jetta since October. Not sure about what to do with the exhaust tip but this will do for now.

A week ago I got the wood for the deck, I bought 2" rough cut kiln dried Ash. It was planed down to 1.75" to have sharp edges. On the weekend I got the deck frame put together. It will get a gray wash and then bolted down. The outer frame is 2"X 3/16" and the deck measures 5.5' X 7'.

How are you joining the boards together? The wood looks great!

i have mixed feelings about this being a flatbed ... but i'll wait on the final execution to see. great execution on it though, should be a pretty deck!

Very cool and fast build you have done here. I really like the simplicity of it. I also figured you would have put a regular step side bed on it but I'll set back and see how it ends up looking. I was surprised to see you were building it to sell too. Everyone needs multiple swapped rides, right?

Thank you. The boards are getting a gray wash so you can see the grain, and I am using stainless bolts.

Thanks Ya the truck was a tow truck so I wanted to keep a bit of it's former life alive.

I enjoy building stuff so why not another truck, keeps me from getting into trouble as often. I'm going for Cool, different and fun. The problem is in my 4 person house hold there is 7 vehicles on the road in the summer, and more than half are mine. It will be hard to let it go tho.

Re: 1950? S-10 tdi

Just ordered the tune for the motor.
Stock is 90hp 155 lb-ft
Stage 3 tune 134whp 235wtq
I have the same power level in my Jeep tdi and it is a rocket.
I'm going to drive the truck at first with stock power then put the tune in.

On the weekend I got the dash wiring about 99% terminated, also got the ps lines made and working.

Well after much thinking on how to make the original gauges work with this motor, I could not justify the cost to fix them so they would work for me.
So this is not my idea but executed it my way. Turned out way better than I was hoping.
Problems with stock was: oil pressure gauge to low, Amp meter, temp gauge did not work.
First they are 2" gauges
Pry off the trim ring
Take new gauge guts out
Grind off lip on housing fuel gauge is done in second pic.
Use 2" hole saw
Align gauge housings and tack weld in.
Reassemble gauge guts
