I would have to agree. I don't like the bright ricer headlights but I do like L.E.D.'s that have a similar feel to the newer Audi cars.

I do love the audi lights so much since they started the trend quite a few years back I see that chrysler is adapting them in the new 200 and 300c very clean look

Well weekend went great I was able to open up the rear end saw a bit of flake at the bottom and will need replacement eventually for the innards but I'm looking elsewhere in that department. Bled the brakes got new fluid for that. replaced a grounding out wire for my thermostat works great now also moved my springs for my gas pedal so that they dont hang up anymore fairly minor fixes along with a new driver side header gasket (NO MORE HISSING WOOHOO!) oh yeah and I was able to get all my valves adjusted along with my timing seems i was quite a bit off and shes running a ton better now so heres some pictures as well as a video of the action thanks

used the truck bed finally!

Hey just caught up and read your build thread. Very nice work! just curious to see how you still like the headlights and how the quality is on them and if the bulbs are replaceable H4 bulbs.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Thank you I've been following a ton of threads lately seeing the latest and greatest to drool over and a forum member got me hooked on these they work great the only thing i am concerned with is adjustment so unless i put them in upside down it seems my low beams are too low and high beams are up in the telephone wires so I'm still figuring that one out but other than that im completely happy with this upgrade. and yes you ca swap the bulbs with any style you want from the blues all the way to the brightest whites just 2 clips hold it in on the backside to swap them out

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Well it was a VERY long weekend being that all I did from the time i got off of work friday night till sunday at 4 was controlled chaos :waah: and scrambling to get to the show and represent my sponsors well enough but hey I was able to do it and even won some raffle prizes in the process, no trophies yet but I don't expect that especially with the area's top end classics here in the central valley of customizing so here's some daily dose of pics enjoy

My dad and I have put a ton of blood sweat and tears into this now respectable truck and plenty of this hardship has been worth it through thick and thin it has brought us together when we have grown apart but we are better than ever now and I couldn't be happier with that fact so here's to you dad thanks for the good times hope to continue by your side on this one and the next as well

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Well yet again I seem to have found myself another projct to start on this truck so here goes the beginning of my 2 year plan the foundation and cheyenne custom deluxe double throw down whatever you wanna call it cab probably a 71? rear view mirror is mounted to roof not windshield but that's a beyond easy fix has a rotted passenger rocker panel but that's the reason for getting it now so we can get it ready for the full ground up restoration set for the summer/winter of 2014/2015 also got a stock stero along with column (no til tho) and I may just repair the old steering wheel to use on my truck with the Ididit tilt column getting a bit ahead of myself but that's okay so here she is along with the glove box options sheet

I hope you don't take offense to this, but there was always something I didn't like about this truck. It's a nice truck I just didn't like where the color was divided. Then you put that silver stripe on, little stripe BIG difference! I like this truck!

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

   Everybody has had the same issue with the truck as well and I knew it would cause a stir but I couldn't make up my mind till now and I'll change it once more when the tailgate is painted (some problems wrapping it all together with the stripe.) and yes this split is very odd I'll be going the traditional red and white (four) two-tone that chevy had for factory so this split is the upper molding that way we dont burn a line in the paint it will all come together in a couple years when I take it all apart for a frame up rebuild

The stripe is a very nice touch, small but a BIG difference in appearance! Gotta love a project that brings family together.:smoke:

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

I've hit a road block recently been trying to rebuild the money situation and I can't keep myself from looking through classic Truck shop's parts magazine for upgrading the minor stuff I still need to pay off my spare cab and then start on that as well as get my hands on a ford 9 inch rear end as well as a 700r to get put in this winter (cab wont be for a few years till im ready to frame off the build) but I'd love to put the truck down a couple weeks and slap the new tranny and rear end in with a new driveline so I can get the bugs outta that setup as well as make a little better gas mileage so in that mindset is anybody willing to be a sugar daddy? kidding kidding stupid limited pocketbook

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Hey guys it's been awhile but I finally made some progress this weekend I finally got my shocks in after they've been on national back order for over a month ridiculous really and then also I have my new cab sitting in its new home for the next few months! gonna start tearing her apart next weekend and get her ready for bodywork and patches so here's some pics that also have some questions and ideas for them please read through and throw in any advice thank you! :uhmk:

So here we go here are the old air shocks in place with alot of gunk on them and driver side blown out
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347250816

Here are the brand new 18 1/2 inch KYB Gas shocks to replace them to make sure of a solid ride also have KYB's in the front
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347250778

In place...
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347250837

Onto the cab I have these buttons surrounding the rear window inside similar to a tanneau cover I had on my bed anyone know of this or have seen this before? I'm getting rid of them for sure but just something curious to me
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347250852

Full vinyl bench that I'm unsure of what to do with..
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347250909

another behind the seat gas tank that will move my total up to two in a couple years when I transfer to an under bed setup
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347250932

Full frontal shot of the cab and you can see the only rust is on the passenger floor and top of rocker which we will try to fix without replacing the whole rocker
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347250538

I already have a vintage air setup bought for the new a/c cab and I'll be looking for slick weld in patches to fill the factory holes as well and looking for a bead rolled circular hole patch for the far left hole (forgetful of name of part)
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347251041

Does anyone know the differences of the 70 cab vs. the 72 cab being the holes particularly I've heard of the throttle being a metal rod on earlier models and a cable being the ones on the 71-72? any truth or are they just the same???
http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1347251088

and finally my pride and joy of this purchase an original AM radio for the truck since I'll be going to a factory look (honestly hate that my current has an aftermarket deck in my dash but least i upgraded) anyone know where I can get this repaired to working order and also find the knobs???

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build

Alright so I'm starting to get envious of everyone on here and I have seemed to have hit a wall with not knowing which direction to step now. So here's my options

A: Continue saving up money to rebuild the drivetrain meaning rebuild a Ford 9" I have my eyes on slap in some highway gears to go along with a rebuilt overdrive 700R4 Tranny to go behing my less than average motor (wanting to swap put for a crate motor next spring)

B: save a little and get the spare cab into a primed sanded buffed smoothed mess for the winter which I won't swap out for a two year period at least at this point or

C: Take some of my nickels and throw them at a few nick nack interior and exterior items to spruce up the truck to showman quality?

D: let it sit how it is for awhile until major upgrades can be made

Much advice needed here boys all angles and opinions welcome
