Not a lot of updates ended up getting it running sounds good? Then I went ahead an did some poppys patina to the bed floor and roof. That stuff really worked well. Finally I got front tires for the mags and they installed the wrong ones thankfully they swapped me out but they are too small

My buddy Joey made up some art off the truck, too.

Got the right front tires in hand and got the truck up and running there is still a little work to do. There a still a bit to do as it has seems to have an ignition system bug above 3000 rpm so a little more to do but I'm happy with how it sounds.

It's been a while since my last update. We recently moved to Colorado Springs due to my wife’s Air Force job. During the move, I did a lot of work on the truck, which I've been using extensively with my new day job.
The process started with towing the truck out west and setting it up for the higher altitude. After flying back east for a job orientation, I swapped in a new cam from work into the old C10. I relocated the battery to the bed, upgraded to tubular trailing arms with new adjustable front mounts, and moved the fuel tank and pump to the rear. Over the next month and a half, I put about 3,500 miles on the truck. I eventually decided to replace the Muncie transmission with a Doug Nash 4+1, which has been a powerhouse. With travel for work and rebuilding my Pro Stock car, the truck saw regular use, except for some exhaust changes where I replaced the glass packs with turbo mufflers and cutouts. We planned to take the truck to Bonneville Speed Week, but instead of driving, my dad and I rented a U-Haul to transport it. This was because, we had a plug wire melt, so a buddy from Jegs overnighted some spares to our hotel. Bonneville went smoothly until the throw-out bearing started squealing, but thankfully, the trailer was a lifesaver. On the return trip, my dad and I evaluated the truck's performance and decided to replace the Doug Nash with a new TKX transmission with a .078% overdrive. I'm also planning to remove the intercooler, as it gets too warm at low speeds in the heat, and switch the tubing directly to the hat. I’ll aim to keep posting updates more regularly now, as we'll be driving or transporting the truck all over the West Coast for work. |

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
Man that's awesome! Your windshield pics remind me of my Navy time, diving mine to both coasts and all over the place.
It's cool that you took it to the salt. How did it do? |
Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
Those pics are SO cool, thanks for posting!
..and 'apologizing' for not posting updates for a while (months)? Some of us don't post updates for years lol :) The truck looks great, and the pics going across country, how awsome!! |
Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
Man it did great other than the slow speeds (5 mph but its 2 miles long) in the pits at 100 degrees it got warm despite all the extra cooling features (200) so I'm going pull the intercooler and go with direct to the hat with the blower. and back to the vortec round hat because it looks better

So after getting all the salt off, I went ahead an yanked the transmission out as the TKX arrived. I went ahead and ditched the blow shield to in favor of going back to a stock truck bell housing. Trying to simplify as Its getting more and more travel time. This makes 3 transmissions this year as I can't settle on one....

Jaxson supervised the installation. But it went smoothly, got a new mat from LMC and still got some loose ends to wrap up and make a floor cover for the shifter hole.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
I know the TKX has OD vs the Nashes 1:1 5th..... What is/are the Nash vs TKX gearing variances? Curious what you wound up with.
Cool salt images for the record 😎👍 |
Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build
