Where did you get the pan and the fuel pressure regulator setup?

lwr kickpnls came from LMC and kennys trucks (in tulsa OK)....the LMC dr. side lines were off so another one was bought at kennys trucks that fit...

this weekends progress report :
got the trans cleaned and painted, mated it back to the engine, and installed them in the frame....the trans mount is about 2.5" higher then the 4l60e, so the trans x-member had to be modded to move the mounting pad up...and a few pics of the headers installed ,,,,,here are a few pics

I'm liking this very much. Great build and great pictures. I'm really facinated by your frame cut and splice. Great way to do that.

dunno who you talked to at what company.... but how it works is the ECM sences the throttle position, and load. if its within the limits it'll shut off 4 cyl. indeffently to conserve fuel....
how it does this is through oil pressure to 'special' two piece lifters....when in the 4cyl, mode the outer part of the lifter moves with the cam, but the inner part does not move.. I E the pushrod nor valves move either...when the ECM sences a change in the load (going up a hill), or more gas (pedal position chages outside the limits) it switches back to 8cyl. mode... it does this in meer milliseconds and cant not be detected, other then the exhaust tone....as a matter of fact those DOD cylinders receive less ware do to this function....

Scoti,
welcome to the club.....you know we'll require a thread with pics:)

I talked with Howell feul injection as well as street and performance and both said it is not worth doing. So for my 05 5.3L who would you recomend getting a harness from so this function stays active? I am trying to get the best MPG I can out of this truck. It has 3.27RP with the 4L60E but the whole cylinder dropping has me at a loss at this point. Any imput would be great.

Also I missed it last time but nice job on slicing the rocker to fit the door/fender profile. Most poeple don't take the time to do this and it really pays off in the end.

Go with the stock harness/PCM. You are more than capable of re-routing some wires. It looks worse than it is...

yea, that would be my first choice (do it myself) but john at speartech is also another great option, he knows his stuff......

Doing the harness is not that bad. Very scary looking and confusing at times with the mess of wires everywhere. Just do it one connector at a time and label everything... In the middle of doing mine and I quite enjoying it.... I do have one question for ya Don. Do you think it will affect the knock sensor reading if i route them inside the harness with the starter solenoid wire. They are a twisted pair of wires so I don't think induction should be a problem.
Thanx
Trevor

I will contack John and get his imput. I would like to keep the DOD feature even if it only give a few % in gain on the MPG. I called S&P today to ask about CC on a drive by wire system and was pleased to find out it is all in their and all they would need to do is add a few wires for me to hook to my colunm switch. That will make for a very cloean set up. I assume John can do the same. Thanks for the info and I am heading over to read the link you sent.

I tried finding the link someone posted about the 'clean' apprearing turn signal stalk w/the CC switch. Do you happen to know that source?

I knew it was in one of these threads but couldn't remember which one. I just re-read through Don's SS build-up as well as LowBuks & didn't see it. The Killer build-up was next on my list.....

That is the same one I have in Low Buck but it came with my CC kit that I ordered from a supplier that the manufacture recommended. I think the kit is a Rostra design or something like that. It works great now that I have all the dip switches adjusted right. I think summit or Jegs also sells the kits.

I was meaning to look into that CC switch. To make that functional all a guy has to do is add the CC input from that switch to the PCM, right?? I was shocked on how cheap it is!!

yes, the pcm controls the CC... just connect the on/off switch, resume/ accelerate, set....and you're done..;)
