And what is the white paper over the fuel gauge about?

It looks like a tip meter to me..Beautiful truck by the way. :metal:

A fairly original '72 GMC. Several good options, AC, tilt wheel, bucket seats with console. Currently at 108K (original), miles. Original 350 (getting tired), and 4 speed 4WD. All paperwork from when purchased back in '72, including the protecto-plate.

Is this similar to the tilt-o-meter?

Oh, OK. I remember there was a big thing about 4WDs being top heavy, and tipping over unsuspecting drivers who tried to drive it like a sedan. I got checked out in the M-151 ''Jeep'' [they were made by Ford or Harley] when I was in the Marines in '75. The license was rubber-stamped with a warning about sharp turns in a high CG vehicle.

Did you make the prairie schooner top, or is it commercial?

Here's a 67 I restored 27 years ago. Drove it for 12 years and then replaced it with a 72.

That is sweet. He did really good work.
Something like that wouldn't fit my truck with a cross-bed tool bin, however.

Beautiful GMC i have your truck saved in pics on my computer. I'm restoring a 70 2wd now. I was going to paint it white but i really like the color of your truck. Would that be considered butternut yellow?

Thanks a bunch. It's "in line" to get a total restoration.

I think it's great you like the color, but just being honest, I don't care for yellow.

When I do restore it, I plan to go to one of the green colors. I usually don't like to deviate from the SPID, but in this case I plan to do so.

None the less, than you very much for the nice comments!

Pat

My step side has gone thru a few changes since my last post to this thread in April 2019. Although I haven't really done much in the last year.

If I were you [and I see you like blue] I'd do that whole '67 in a light or Bright Blue. For the Pure '67 Look, the front grille is the same color, but the trim rings and headlamp bezels would be a contrasting white. And white tailgate letters.
I saw these trucks when they were brand new and nothing beats it. Made up my mind in high school in 1967, that I wanted a truck like that. Didn't catch up with one til I was 23. Now I'm 70, and when people ask if I want to sell my truck, I just look at them like they're nuts.

I do like blue . That's why I grew fond of the dark blue metallic on the '71 C10 I just sold. I don't know what it's called but I liked it.
