The fuel system was giving me problems, the old tank had rust in it and I kept plugging the fuel filter. I couldn’t go anywhere without breaking down, so I bought a new tank. What a difference, I wish I had done this to begin with it would have saved me some heartache and embarrassment. I swapped the new tank in at the same time I did the engine.

I had to add a little bling, I figured I needed a set of aluminum finned Holley valve covers in my life, I love these things. Finally, I have the truck reliable enough for road trips and have made a couple of shows. It road trips ok with the stall converter and the GV overdrive. Man, I love this thing now, the new engine and trans really made a difference.

Re: “Castro” my new 72 build
Not on here a bunch but just read through your build, great work. I love the methodical upgrades and the interior. Looks almost stock but many modern touches! Look forward to seeing more of this truck!

Made a little road trip to Steven's (Smbrouss70) this morning to do a little tuning on his GTO and to check out progress on gringoloco's truck. Visited with Kevin (65streetcruiser) and Steven for awhile.

After running this thing awhile the AC is not doing so good. When you get it charged with the right amount of 134A the pressure falls to zero when the clutch engages after about 10 seconds. Acts like something is plugged. I called up vintage air and they gave me a couple of possibilities. The one thing they thought on top of the list was a plugged expansion valve from the "crumbs" made when you cut the hose. So i pulled it all apart and changed the expansion valve. We'll see what happens when I'm done.

Re: “Castro” my new 72 build
That's unfortunate. Hopefully that solves your problem and your back on the road asap.

Re: “Castro” my new 72 build
just read through this thread. Nice work and such a good way to use good parts off the blue truck to build this one up. Hopefully, I can check it out at C10's in the Park next month. I must have missed it at the Classic Truck Nationals.

A couple of updates. I had a nagging problem with overheating in traffic. After trying 2 different aluminum radiators I got a local radiator shop to see if he could get me an old school copper brass 4 row radiator. Scored one but was expensive however it cured the problems I was having. Also switched out my AC controls for this slick vintage air unit. I needed the room behind it to clean up the clutter and this did it. AC is working ok but the test will be this coming weekend on a trip to C10s in the Park. I hope I get to see some folks off here, there is a big crew coming from Louisiana with us.

I guess I missed you and the truck this weekend. I know I did not see all the trucks. I have seen pictures on social media of trucks, and thought "I never saw that one"...

I finally got around to cleaning up the bed floor. Gave it a acid wash. I used Ospho and a brass bristle brush, scrubbed it good and neutralized it right away with water. It's amazing how much paint was hiding under all those rust stains.
