I know only too well.

A 71 Chevelle. It was one owner and cleaner than Kleenex. But it was a 350 and had a vinyl top. I wanted a big block and didn't like the vinyl top. I thought it looked a little too grandma. So I passed on it. :dohh: STUPID !!! That car was spotless and her friend wasn't asking too much for it. :banghead: I was a dumb kid.

In 1971 a friend of mine bought a 71 SS454. In 1988 I got a chance to buy it. Lucky for me, I had just sold some cars and had money burning my pocket. It was no bargain at the time, but has been a good investment. I still have it.

That's a beautiful car. Close to what I was looking at.

I'm going to go and hit myself in the head with a brick now.

Back in the '70s a guy might have passed on that wanting a red one. In the '80s I saw so many red or black Chevys that had been originally one of the cool era colors people seek now. It used to be a royal pain to change them back. This was back before we were blowing them apart for frame-offs.

BTW, I'm a big fan of that color! But the vinyl top makes it an old lady car

Yeah, I had decided I didn't like vinyl tops when I was a kid. I guess any woman with a drivers license was an old lady to me. As time went by I realized what a cool addition the vinyl was. You could get the fancy and the performance. Only in America!

It's a lorry! It has no boot!

That one is made for chauffeurs' personal use. Kinda hard to drive anything else after driving a rolls all day, but the last thing you want is anyone sitting behind you when you aren't getting paid.

I'm serious. I really like this one

I don't know what's going on there. It does look like Jeep stuff, earlier than the Ranchero. I think it's Australian. It's not the same grille as our Falcons. The black one had a caption that said it was a '72.

I think if you took the roof off the back of a Gremlin you'd just have a shorter Gremlin :). I found more AMC stuff

Now that one is not so bad. Sorta Australian looking. Yeah buddy. Drop a 401 w/4sp in that and have some fun. Not bad. American Motors version of the SS Elcamino.
Haha. Look at that tag.

Nice compact size. Imagine with the 4wd Hornet running gear for another version. would make a neat sporty street pickup, though.

Nope. It's not trying to be what it ain't. Just a handy dandy light duty little cargo hauler. Not sure a lot of cowboys would have gone for them, though. It think Chore Boy would suit it. Or how about Go-fer?

Why does it say Dodge on the quarter. It looks like Plymouth Fury front end.

Good point. If it's factory it could be an Australian Ute and maybe over there they are badged Dodge. Huge hunch. I guess there were Chrysler products over there. This is an Australian Chrysler 'Wayfarer"
Attachment 1988401

This one is a Chrysler Valiant Wayfarer. So maybe that Fury is a Chrysler Dodge Wayfarer Fury

Ok, I'll take this and you get the Voyager mini-van

It's not ugly. You are just used to seeing much much better looking vehicles. It's all in your head

Not a truck, but a GM experimental. Seems to be a Corvair-based vehicle. So was it an early Corvair concept? If so, they had the full-size '65 Pontiac headlamp assemblies already designed. They named it "Futura" which was in use by Ford, unless this is a pre-60 concept

Re: Pic Thread: Not Just El Caminos

I was wondering if they didn't put the transaxle in the rear. That way this configuration could be possible. Looks like a seam for the tail end to open up. Might just be the body lines. Seating would be cramped to the center
