Oh heck yeah!! I bet it sounded extra rowdy with no pipes on it! :metal:

Speaking of pipes, have you decided what exhaust you’re doing with?

Yep it was WAY LOUD!

I currently have true duals, probably going to keep the Dual turbo Mufflers I already have on it, since its nice an mellow and its in great shape. Probably have to fabricate a small piece on the drivers side to connect the exhaust that is there to the my new LS Manifolds like you have. The passenger side might bolt up!

Ok since several of you have ask, about the Fuse box, here it is, on my new Engine. It will mount to the back of the ECU box.

Since several have ask what I am doing for wiring here's what I did. I had Andy (got his name from Brendan at Lt1swap.com) at:

https://lsxharness.com/

rework my factory harness and thin it down.

He also installs this fuse block and Relay Block as part of the deal.

He also wires up the electric fans through the relay block #1 and #2.

Then the wires come back marked with 12+, "Ign on", ground, and etc.

Pulled the engine and she was really oily, everywhere that wasn't visible, including the transmission leaking out the rear main seal, (no wonder I had so many oil drips underneath the TRUCK!)

It appears somebody pulled the oil pan in the last 5 years to reseal it? as it is super clean and somebody painted the oil pan), so somebody tried to stop the oil leaking issues?? Upon engine removal it was pretty obvious the engine had never been out of the truck.

So I will start on the cleaning process.

The firewall drives me nuts on how unkept it looks (all the black stuff sprayed everywhere). My guess is GM let it leave the factory like this (since we have owned this truck since 1975). I know nobody in our family ever sprayed anything on the firewall.

It would appear the control arms, on the suspension haven't been cleaned in years!

This AC box install by GM is looking a little ratty so it will need to be cleaned up as well!

Anybody had any luck getting the black stuff off, around the box? It sort of scraps off, but it appears it will have to be sanded off?

Yes/no?

The 'black stuff' is just an undercoating spray GM used on seams & areas where they were trying to seal.

I read somewhere that an eraser wheel works on the black seam sealer. I’m hoping that’s true.

We are going to give it a try over the next several days. The black stuff is so old it is falling off as you touch it, but yet enough is still attached, so much so, that it doesn't come off clean.

The black stuff on the firewall for the most part scrapped off with a putty knife, when done, it was far from being clean, but it was so old and brittle it pretty much just scrapped off, now I have clean up the rest. Added Rust Oleum rusty metal primer to the "seem" that inevitably rusts on these Squares, and any other bit of surface rust, got the Rust Oleum rusty metal primer. The only spot that really had ANY rust was behind the AC box directly above the blend door opening. So I ground out the rust and applied some Rust Oleum rusty metal primer to that area as well. It was really a small spot. So now I will start sanding the rest and prep for paint.

So I got everything prepped and getting ready to paint. My Friend convinced me to do the lower footwell of the engine compartment too!
