Well if you look below at my sig I took on another project. So the panel getting pushed back yet again. The '53's came at the wrong time but could not them up for the condition of the one and the price. Miss having an old driver so going to try and get it going as soon as I can.

Nice work! What are you using for a motor? Your panel is in pretty good shape.

I know I can speak for GRIMSS since I spoke with him a week ago... life and family have been keeping him busy; not to mention the weather here in the Midwest has been bitter cold and miserable here lately.

Hey Grimmss. love the build man. you definatley got skills. hey i like the idea you had of filling in the holes on the 20" dodge wheels. Do you have any more pictues of those done????

GRIMSS 01-16-2011 11:14 AM

Re: '56 Chevy Panel build (SLP)

Nate's right been busy with family, too dang cold, and got another project.

As for the wheels, was all pumped about doing this and got all the holes filled on one. Almost all ground down, then realized that dodge used 2 different stampings. One the holes are perfect round the other are ovals. I had 2 with the round holes and 4 with the ovals. So I gave up on filling the holes for now.

What is the best method to welding in these blocks that you added to the inside of the frame? What gauge of metal did you use? Need to do this where the rear portion of my frame is going to attach new to old.

Those were 3/16 or 1/4 2x4 tube. It was left over from the new section I made. I just got the old down to bare metal and welded all the way around.

If I would stop getting into other projects I might get back on it. I did get the bed off the '53 and cut some bracket off the s10.

Hey grimss, your panel is sick, I've always wanted this one my uncle has sitting in his field, maybe one day. I was wondering if you could feel me in on how you mounted the caps on the dodge steels, I love that look and think it would be cool for my brothers ford.

Plans are to use original style clips on the new wheels. Kind of like they are doing with the smoothie wheels.
