So this is what I started with in 2006. Up until this year my time to work on it has been limited. In the meantime I was purchasing the parts I would need.

The mock up. I opted to shorten the front of the bed by 4 inches so of course i had to shorten the frame.

Hi Jan and welcome.

If you're over in Garage Journal you'll know I mean this in the nicest possible way - YOU SUCK!!!

Man, $100 for an ididit column? Craap, I thought I did good getting one for $350.

I like your project, did you paint the frame with catalyzed automotive paint, rattle cans or maybe brush on enamel like Rustoleum? It looks like a very nice job and I'm always surprised how good the various methods look.

Also, what are your mini tubs from? They're very nice.

Thanks everyone, this project has been a lot of fun for me. I enjoy looking at all your projects, some beautiful trucks being built.;)

Dan, $350. is a heck of a good price! I couldnt get there with my money fast enough then when I got there he threw in the steering wheel. SWEET!!!
The paint is summits catalyzed chassis paint in satin, as you know we cant get it shipped to cali, fortunately, Im only a couple hr's from the sparks NV werehouse.
The tubs are from Tractor Supply cost $30. each and look to be about a 16g. (You will find them in the trailer section)

So here's more part's that I have accumulated. American Autowire ,NVU Gauges and aeromotive fuel system.
A note on the NVU gauges -Since I was using the mustang sender they calibrated the gauge so that it would read correctly...no charge.:metal:

I need to have a driveline made, anyone have any recommendations? Empire? Denny's?

Empire and denny's are both top notch builders and there prices are very close, It's all in the shipping. I went with www.dynotecheng.com shaft all great stuff.

Thanks for the fast response. There are no Tractor Supplies within 50 mile of me in suburban SoCal but I'll check their catalog. Thanks again.

Welcome from So Arizona!

That was a fast build!!

All complete in one day, no suspense and no surprises, very good planning you will be happy with that combo, should last another 50 years.

Re: Jans 53

Thanks for the welcome solidaxel. I bought the truck in 2006 and its been a slow process collecting parts. The last couple years I finally had time to work on it, today I ordered the driveline from Empire and will hopefully be installing next week.
Im curious what you think about your ZZ-4, I cant wait to drive mine, I have heard a lot of good things about it but dont personally know anyone who has one. Looks like you have 2 so Im thinking you must be happy with them.

Yes, they work great in all kinds of traffic, and I drive them every day and "night".

They were the greatest thing since slice bread........... but then I discovered the LS platform!!

The ZZ 4 work at any RPM I can drive around in 5th gear at 30 MPH and it does not lug with the 3:73 rear gear, That engine is good at all speeds You will Love it

With the 4L60E the computer tells the engine what gear to be in and that one works the best in the city where I do most of my driving.

They both work great at freeway speeds and get fair gas mileage.

Keep spending time and money on these old trucks and they will last for another 50 years !!
