6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
4 Attachment(s)
This set of brackets will allow you to have rear disc brakes on your 6 x 5.5 bolt pattern ’64-’87 GM truck 10 and 12 bolt rear differentials, and be able to run 15" wheels. This rear disc conversion is completely bolt on with one exception. The drum/wheel register will need machined down to approximately 3.06”. I do recommend upgrading to ½” wheel studs at this time, but it isn’t absolutely necessary for the installation. The rotors used with these brackets as well as the calipers are easily found at your local auto parts supplier. The basic application for the rotors is '88-'98 K1500 Silverado or Suburban front rotors. The calipers used on this conversion are referred to as the D369 calipers. These are also found on the '88-'98 K1500's as well as the C1500's. A complete parts list with part numbers is included with the brackets.
The cost on this set of brackets with installation hardware is $179.50. Satin black powder coating is an additional $28.00. Shipping within the USA is a flat $16.25. See our website for current pricing. If you are outside of the USA, contact me for a shipping cost. For payments I accept PayPal and money orders. Credit card payments can be made thru PayPal. To place an order, post in this thread, send me a PM or send an email to captainfab454@hotmail.com, and I will give you the ordering and payment instructions and current lead time. |
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Hmm, with these calipers there won't be a parking brake, will there?

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
This is awesome, I've been torn whether I should just change my front brakes to 5 lug in case I wanted to go to rear discs later on, but now I don't have to worry about it :-D I love the stuff you fab, Captain

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Is there any calipers that have the E-brake that would work for this application?
I want to keep my 6 lug front and rear. but I want to disc brake my front and rear any suggestions? |
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I don't currently have a 6 lug rear disc bracket that has an e-brake that will work with 15" wheels. However I do have these if you could run 16" or larger wheels.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Any plans to come up with a 6 lug rear disc brake setup with an e-brake? I would really love to make the change but I have a t56 and need the ebrake... thank you

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
As I stated in my thread for the discontinued 6 lug rear discs, I am currently working on another bracket set that will have an e-brake and will work with 15" wheels. There just is not a lot of time with working 70-80 hrs a week. I am currently waiting on some laser cutting for verify the final design.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Got it., I did not see the thread you are referring to. I understanding work constraints. I will hold out for the 15 compatible rear discs though... Theres a lot of hills in my area.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I'm at a point where I'm ready to undertake this as well Capt. However, I want to be able to run my slotted mags if possible. Patiently awaiting your new design.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I haven't forgot about this. I've just been burried with work, including one big job I am trying to get done. I have the latest laser cutting sitting in the shop, just lacking time to get to it. I should be able later this coming week.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
No problem at all. We all understand outside pressures with life.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Does the new design used the D52 calipers?
|
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
No it will not be using the D52 caliper. The new design will use the smaller Metric caliper commonly used on the '79-'85 Eldorado, Toronado, and Riveria as well as the '82-'91(?) F-bodies.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I am very interested in a set of these brackets. I am ready to buy with cash in hand when the time has come. Hoping to have my truck ready before LSFest. Hope everything goes well with the laser cutter.

I did pickup the laser cutting on Friday, and finally got time to check the fitment today. Everything looks good with the caliper I was using, which was a standard front caliper. I ran out of time to check the fitment with an actual e-brake caliper, I will do that tomorrow. I don't forsee any problems, so I should be able to ship 3 sets of these right away. I will start a for sale thread tomorrow sometime. In the meantime here are some pics.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I would like to be considered for one of the first sets. Gotta get the truck back on the ground before the HOA says anything. Trying to build this truck without getting any fines. I have cash in hand.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Also, will the e-brake caliper still be the 93-97 f-body caliper as in your previous adapter plates?
James |
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
No they will not use those calipers

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Captain, do you still have these brackets available? Did I understand your descripton correct, I will be able to use my stock 15s and have rear disc brakes?
I was reading several different posts on front disc brake conversions, do you have any suggestions on ways to convert to disc in the front using parts found at my local auto parts supplier? By the way, big props on your contributions to us fellow forum members!:metal: Quote:

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Yes these brackets are still available. Would you like a set in bare steel or satin black powder coat? These will work with 15" disc brake compatible wheels.
Aside from the spindles and aftermarket 6 lug rotors, you can convert to front disc brakes by using '73-'87 components. There are a few disc brake conversion threads in the '60-'66 FAQ index. Quote:

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
what is the outside diameter of the smallest rear 6 lug disc setup you have?
weather it be E-brake on non E-brake. My rear rims are 12 inches and have 7 inches of backspace..... thanks CAPT. |
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I will have to get you a measurement tomorrow night after I get home from the shop. They both work with 15" diameter disc brake compatible wheels.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Captain,
would it be possibly to purchase only the main caliper bracket as to be used in a weld on configuration? Understandable if not. I just prefer welded on caliper brackets. Thanks! -Wizit |
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
I am currently out of the caliper brackets for this set, but I do have a couple sets that were used during R&D and were not quite what I was wanting. You could likely make those work since you will be welding them on. Let me know.

Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
any modifications necessary to a hydroboost setup? All I did was replace the booster and master cylinder on my '72 4x4. Will it run your kit?
|
Re: 6 Lug Rear Discs With 15" Wheels
Whether you run a vacuum booster or hydroboost, it has no affect on the operation of two calipers and two wheel cylinders, or four calipers. You do need the correct master cylinder and proportioning valve, or an adjustable proportioning valve for either a disc/drum or disc/disc brake system.
