WTB - Bumper Bolts

3 Attachment(s)
I'm looking for 10 original bumper bolts with the stainless cap that are in nice condition with no dings or scrapes and minimal rust on the threads. I'd be happy to buy multiple partial sets.

Classic Parts of Amer. has them new.

Re: WTB - Bumper Bolts

I was looking at those, and it looks to me like the dome is not as tall as on the originals. That's basically what I've got on my truck now, although I bought them from GMCPauls.com. They also have chrome plated bolts that have the tall dome, but I'm looking for stainless steel.

The nearest NAPA has bumper bolts in the bolts drawers.

Ok, thanks. Are they the exact style as the originals with a tall head wrapped in stainless steel?

I used the ones goodmark sells:

I don't have any closeup pictures, but I think I can take some in the morning. They are pretty tall...

Thanks. Those are chrome plated steel instead if wrapped in stainless, I believe. I know I'm being picky, but I'm hoping to get my hands on a full set of originals. I only have one good original at the moment.

Patrick, let me look in the parts stash, I may have a few, doubt I can come up with a full set tho. I have some stainless capped bumper bolts but not sure they are correct. May be some left overs from the restore on my '57 two door sedan. :chevy:

That would be great. Even a couple would be a help. Someone went crazy with a hammer on the bolts that were on my truck when I first got it. The head diameter is about 1", and the head is slightly taller than 3/8". Also there's an "A" stamped on the end.

I'm still looking Patrick, seems I put things up for the future possible use and then can't recall where I stashed them. Hate that. Don't give up on me, still looking.

TxGary, I received the five bumper bolts yesterday. They look great. Thanks so much.

Still looking for another five bumper bolts to complete the set.

Patrick, finally found the stainless bumper bolts but I'm sure not what you wanted to hear. They are the extra stainless capped bumper bolts from my '57 two door sedan. Same style capped bolt but the head is only 1/4'' tall. Sorry I could not help you with as many times as you've helped me out. :waah:

I'll bet those are the same. I only measured the height of the dome (square part not included). How much do you want for them?

I've been working on other truck projects lately, but I finally got around to cleaning these bolts up. I hit them with a wire wheel and then sprayed the backs of them with a light layer of paint.

Nice job..wish I was at that point of dealing with the bumper. Thought those I sent would clean up.

Thought you might appreciate the Amazon sale since you live in California too....was looking for USGS site for a recent one.

Re: WTB - Bumper Bolts

Haha. That's confusing! I'd rather avoid earthquakes, if possible...

PaulJG 07-28-2023 08:04 PM

Re: WTB - Bumper Bolts

I was woken up to 2.9 earlier in week. We had a big one Dec 20 2022..6.4..biggest one I've been in. Another same date in 2021. You get used to the small ones..not the 5+ quakes.

pjmoreland 07-29-2023 02:15 AM

Re: WTB - Bumper Bolts

We don't get earthquakes too often over where I am. Isn't there a big fault line off the coast near you?

PaulJG 07-29-2023 11:34 AM

Re: WTB - Bumper Bolts

Three tectonic plates off the coast are the culprit. San Andreas fault line a part of that.
Bay Area has a lot of fault lines. Mammoth Lakes area is fairly active geologic zone.
Not much in your area.
This winter we had quite a few aftershocks. The dec 20 quake damaged quite a few homes in Rio Dell. It was rated severe..has to do with a different scale than Richter scale.
