Borderline Badass. 08 tahoe frame swap

Our 68 4x4 was t boned. So time to build again. I bought a 2008 border patrol 4x4 Tahoe to set the next 68 body on. Other than electronics it looks like our biggest battle will be frame width. The 08 has about a 50 inch outside frame width.

Damn the wheel base looks perfect!

Most of the time I have seen these builds its the late model chassis and floor with the cab of the 67-72 (floor cut out) set on it

how are things lining up?

Re: Borderline Badass. 08 tahoe frame swap

The wheelbase of the tahoe is 1 inch longer, so making it center on the wheels has gone fairly easy. The body mounts? Not so much. I will have to move each one and make platform on the bottom of the cab. Don't think it will be to bad. I plan to flatten out a spot on the floor support and then strengthen it similiar to the original 68.

Drew put his truck on a later chassis ('03?) in this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=426382 , could possibly help you. I've thought about the same swap but 2wd, and a '66 body and bed since they wheelbase is so close.

Re: Borderline Badass. 08 tahoe frame swap

Just looked at Drew's build. I saw where he addressed the body mounts but not sure exactly what he did. I'm not sure that I want to do my body mount in the center of the frame. (I think that is what he did on the front mounts)
Every time I go out into the garage I sit and stare at the truck. The ride height is really growing on me. I am going to try to knock out the body mounts this weekend.

Well, life got in the way the last few weeks, I do have the body mounts cut off of the frame, and think I have it figured out how to mount. I will post as soon as I get it welded up. Shouldn't be to long.
