Scarebird Conversions
Has anyone used Scarebird.com for brake conversions. Custom10nut told me about them, and they are differently cheaper then going full conversion., The question I have is my 70 cst/10 has a 6x5.5 x 1/2" lug bolt pattern, in the kit from scarebird the rotors you use is from a 1995-98 3/4 Gm, to get the 6x5.5 pattern. My son who happens to work a a parts store picked up a pair of the rotors, but they use what has to be a 7/16 lug.
I am checking on the rotors to make sure they are correct, but if they are, does this mean I have to change out the rear lugs to 7/16" I have email the site and waiting on a response, just curious if anyone has installed this kit and what was the results. Thanks. |
Re: Scarebird Conversions
I think you have the lugnut sizes swapped
All 67 72s I have had 6 bolt where 7/16 and 5 bolt trucks have 1/2 lugnuts Did you upsize your wheel studs on your truck in the past ? |
Re: Scarebird Conversions
The rear lug studs on your 70 c10 should already be 7/16”.
The 95-98 rotors should be metric. |
Re: Scarebird Conversions
I used this kit on the wife's truck. The front studs are 14mm

I had found this lug size on the web,and down under Chevy/Gmc Trucks I found the Pickup (6-Lug) 37-87 1/2" x 20

format doesn’t mean it’s accurate 8 lugs back in the 1960’s definitely were NOT metric |

Re: Scarebird Conversions
Hey Group, to everyone that replied to my post. I apologize looks like I need to go back to school for a little refresher in FRACTIONS. Gmc684X4 wins the prize, yes I had the sizes swapped, I do indeed have 7/16" not 1/2"
And 67 Twins you were correct as well. With that being said and after a little correspondence with Mark at Scarebird, he recommended changing out to metric Lugs on my new 98 gmc rotors to 1/2"x 20 Which I plan on doing. My next question is it possible to find a 1/2x20 lug in which I could install in the back to replace the 7/16" x20's without having to do a bunch of re-drilling on my drums. Thanks again for everyone's feedback, I'm a little rusty on working on the ole truck, but it's coming back day by day.. Everyone have a good Thanksgiving, and thanks again. Bullzak_83 |

Re: Scarebird Conversions
Apologies for raising the dead, but not much else on the boards about this vendor. Looks like you have been running their kit for almost a year. What are your thoughts thus far? I am thinking of going this way for an old beat up long bed.
Any tips, or other parts needed I may unawares of? |
