Re: “Castro” my new 72 build
Mike glad to see you back. Your '72 was probably my favorite truck on here and I was really sad to see it destroyed. Will you be at C10's in the park this fall? I got tickets last year and they said they'd honor them this year after it was cancelled so we're planning on being there.

Signing in to watch! Sorry about the blue truck.

Re: “Castro” my new 72 build
sad story on your blue truck, I hope you where not hurt! Seems at the speed you were going you could have been knocked around a bit (even in a modern car/truck).
I am jealous of your shop and all that room you have! My cookie cutter house I can barely park my truck in and close the door (long beds take space!). Though I guess I could be worse off an not have a garage at all LOL! |

More Progress, this QA 1 kit takes square body spindles. Too bad because at the time I had 2 sets of ECE drop spindles for a 67- 72. 72-disc brakes have the thick rotors, so I bought McGaughys square body drop spindles for the thicker rotors. Looking back now I wished I would have bought CPP modular spindles, so I could put big brakes on later if I wanted to and not have to replace the spindles.

More progress, the rear end is installed. This is a fresh 3.73 with an Eaton posi and I have a Denny’s drive shaft. I only had about a thousand miles on it when I had the wreck. I long hauled HRPT with a 3.08 and no GV OD which I installed afterwards. I still have the complete 3.08 rear end and drive shaft if I ever need or want to swap it back in.

I reworked the exhaust to make it look better. It’s hard to get this job right laying on your back as when I first built it. It’s easy to get it all lined up straight with no body in the way. It’s a 3” system with Walker Ultra Flows. I cut it apart where needed, rewelded and repainted.

I was able to reuse the cab mounts off the blue truck, they still looked like new, but I had to buy a new set for the core support.

I’m using a Dakota Digital dash and wanted to install cruise hooked into the GPS. Here’s where I mounted a late 90’s OBS cruise module. I also have a wide band and incorporated it into the DD dash, you can see the sensor below, later on I moved the sensor to the header, But no photos. More to come.
