One piece driveshaft swap

I am thinking of replacing the two piece driveshaft in my th400 Dana 60 leaf axle equipped 67 c20,had new rear half made and need to replace center support bearing after 3000 miles.I measured the one piece in my 2002 lwb Siverado,it is about an inch too long.Anyone know of an application that would work better?I know slip yoke would have to be changed as well as trailing arm crossmember removed.Truck has had a vibration ever since build, not from wheels/tires.Most driveshaft companies will not build one as long as I need. Thanks

I just did it. Went to a local shop and they cut it down and balanced it for me. In fact the drive he cut down was out of a Siverado.

I'm interested on how this turns out. I have a 70 C20 with driveline vibration. Had the 2 piece rebuilt and balanced with no change.

Getting ready to swap a 6.0/4L80 in my c20 and I’m thinking the same. Just the trans is 11.5” longer than the existing 4 spd. Haven’t made it that far so I’m following.

Here is how I did mine. I measured from the end of the transmission output shaft to the diff ujoint cap. Then I subtracted an inch and had it cut and balanced.

Note:
I went from a two piece shaft to one piece. I was going to cut out the center carrier out of the two piece as I made my truck a 6' bed. I was told that a cut down two piece would vibrate and that I needed a 4" diameter drive shaft.

Are you saying the carrier bearing failed after 3000 miles from new?

Is your truck a leaf or coil spring rear suspension? You mentioned both styles.

Has the truck been lowered or lifted? What are the U-joint angles?

There may be other issues than the drive lines. Have you had the rear end throughly inspected? Worn bearings in the rear axle will cause vibration issues.
