Perfect, thanks.

Personally, I like the Warn bumper best, but the custom one you have designed is cool also. I think the only modification I would make is the size of the pipe. I'd want it a bit larger diameter. It'll look nice having a matching set.

I decided to swap the Edelbrock 1406 carb from my C20 onto this truck today. The Quadrajet on it (sitting over a decade) did not run well and was hard to start because the choke wasn't working right. I figured at least it would eliminate the carburetor as a problem. It starts easily and idles decent with the Edelbrock. I need to set the timing again and hook up the vacuum advance to see if it still has the backfire issue.

It felt good to wrench today and make progress. Sometimes it seems like I throw money and parts at this project and it still sits in the driveway and doesn't move. Today cost nothing and my truck runs better.

Checked the timing today, and it still backfires when you hook up the vacuum advance. I think there is something wrong with the distributor. Timing is 12 at idle (750rpm), but the timing goes wild when you give it any gas and it backfires out of the exhaust.

I ordered an Edelbrock 1906 carburetor today too. I just have to decide which truck will get which carb.

Nothing better to do during this stay-at-home pandemic, so I rebuilt the Quadrajet that was on this thing. I was surprised to find that it was actually pretty clean inside. I think it was rebuilt before at some point. Should I throw this on there and see how it runs? I'll probably just go with the 1906 that I ordered and save this in a box.

I'm fairly certain that the cheap Speedmaster distributor that I bought from Jegs is junk, and is the cause of the timing problems. I ordered a Summit Blueprint HEI, which is the same part that my C20 has.

So I couldn't get the Quadrajet to start. Oh well, not like I was expecting greatness from my rebuild. I installed the new Summit HEI and Edelbrock 1906, and it was running smooth in no time. What a difference!

Today's lesson: Do not buy a Speedmaster distributor no matter how cheap it is.

I love this truck. Would love to find one like this, but in MO it would have so much rust it wouldn't be worth it.

Thanks! Keep looking. They are still out there hiding just like this one was.

If you ask your Chevy truck friends if they have a grille for your 4x4 project and you end up with all this, then you have good Chevy truck friends. The extra parts I don't use will go to someone that needs them. Parts karma. Thanks John and Nathan!

Switched out the grille today for the broken one and one of the better outers. The inner needed a little super glue, but it suits this truck better than the nice one.

Thanks guys. I still have a few things on my list to fix before I can really enjoy it.

- I wired up some turn signals today.

- Previous owner told me that the front and rear differential gears don't match. I need to figure out what gears are in it and the condition and have repaired. Can't test the 4wd until then.
- Needs an alignment since all the steering was replaced.
- Brakes work, but not great. I still need to put new pads on the front, but I just might pay a shop if that doesn't make them better.
- The truck needs bumpers. The two local quotes I got for custom bumpers were around $2500, which is more than I wanted to spend. I want to use the winch I have. I'm worried my ideas are bigger than my wallet.
- Backup lights don't work. I need to check neutral safety switch and wiring.
- Temp gauge is pegged hot since I replaced the sensor. I need to figure out why.
- I want Vintage Air, but that will have to wait until all the other mechanical issues are solved.
