New to the site! Canadian guy building a 63 LWB Fleet
3 Attachment(s)
Thought i'd introduce myself, I live in Dryden Ontario and in my small 24x28 garage i am building a 1963 GMC long box fleet side. Has original v6 305 with 3 speed in it but am going a different route with the restoration/engine/stance as i want a vintage style hot-rod. Purchased the truck in July 2020 and have no date or time line to finish it, just a nice project to work on. I have to young children so finding time can be tough. I have never mig welded before nor done any type of restoration but I am an aircraft mechanic with a little bit of know how so i am learning as i go... Quick learner and already almost have the cab rust free with new floor pans, rockers, A pillars, kick panels, and cab corners on both sides. I'm always in the process of buying new tools and equipment to make the restoration easier. So far so GOOD! So this is me and i'm sure i'll be participating in the forums more than just lurking like I have been!

Even though i have 67 and 68 C-10's I am a huge fan of the 60-66 pickups! They seem to radiate a blue collar theme, nothing fancy about them. The styling seems old, but is functionable!
A good friend had a 66 C-10 LWB. Had a 400 SBC, Muncie M20, 3.42 gears ( a later rear). THat thing ran crazy awesome!!! |

One thing my buddy with the 66 sometimes bemoaned, was the windshield angle. It is so close to straight up and down, any rock that hits it can make a bullseye, easily. Windshields on all 67 and newer had glass angles much less severe...a rock has a chance to glance off... |
