Unusual Paint

Good day. I am usually on the 67-72 side but my brother was looking for a project and stumbled onto this. Owner said he thought it was a 78, but I believe it to be a 76. Paint appears to be factory and I have found the same paint on other 76s.

Its a little rough but nicely equipped. I am wondering if it would be worth restoring to original, or is it just another mid 70s truck. Thanks and I apologize for the quality of the photos. Ill blame my brother:).

Looks like an Impact Package truck. Nice find.

Great find.
The vin will let you know the year.
There is a few differences in door panels and the dash.

I had no idea what you meant, but I searched and found this. Geunther's truck looks like a similar pattern to the one in the lower illustration.

For my opinion, I say it's not worth preserving the specific paint scheme if you prefer something different. Document what you have in a build thread or album, but make it your own. Pick your favorite factory paint colors, or mix-n-match between any of them as well. These are pickup trucks that are still available in large numbers. They're quite unlike a 1957 Corvette that really should be kept true to original.

Then again, I'm biased. Note that the truck in my signature has almost nothing in common with its birth year anymore.

If it ran it would be worth $4k up here the way it is.

That's a really cool truck. I would definitely go back with to the factory colors if you're not opposed to them. And that graphics package is distinctive. I'd consider getting it reproduced in vinyl if you and he like the way that it looks. And in answer to your question, it's not just another 70s truck. Those stripes are not common. Those factory appearance packages are neat. As far as restoration, I would say yeah, back to factory is worth it. Maybe not date coded, etc., but back to factory appearance would be really cool.

There probably weren't a whole lot of 4wds done that way back then
