67 gmc project "dry feet"
 

This is my build thread. I picked up a 67 gm longbox fleetside small back window about 12 years ago. I had the intention of just fixing it up so I could enjoy it on a semi daily basis and use it as a truck when i needed to. Well, it seems I have a similar story to so many other people. No time, then money, then family and many other stumbling blocks along the way. Well it has been officially started! This is what it looked like.Attachment 1305896

It started out that one would get wet feet when it rained, so it needed to be fixed. But first: the original 250 six used about a gallon of oil per 100 miles (literally) so it needed to go. The original 3 on the tree kept popping out of gear so that needed to go too, but it was kinda fun. Got the usual 350 v8 and an automatic. Unfortunately the tranny blew when loading it onto a trailer. It was a too small transmission for a truck that the shop installed for me and I didn't know better. So the truck sat for 5 years. or more. Now I have the space, time, drive and a bit of the money.

I know what I can do and can't do, so the cab is off to a shop to get all the work it needs. New floor, corners, rockers, seems like everything.

Now to clean up the frame. Man it's a lot of work to get things down to the bare frame, so much stuff needs to come off. Way easier said than done.

Sucks that you've had to wait so long to really mess with the truck, but either way it's good to see that you held on to it and are now making progress. . I really like the 67 gmc grille best of 67-72

Thanks. I just lucked out when I originally bought it and now i really prefer the small back window and the GMC grills. I had no idea what I was looking for, just an old truck to have. Its going to be a long haul still to come but I didn't want to be one of those guys who has plans but can't finish.
