Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
I'll fill Ya'll in on how proud of myself I was for making it to the Finals later. I haven't bracket raced in 16 years. No I didn't win. Lol. DB is going to mail me Runner Up Plaque.

Nothing really exciting to speak of. Blue got a new Tie for Christmas. It sucks that my old NOS Chevy Bowtie got broken. This aftermarket one didn't even fit flush on the edges. I was so aggravated about the situation I bent into submission over the handle of my 4" grinder. It was either going to fit or it was going to break. I'm not going to pull my motor until after our May race at the Tx Motorplex. Then it will be time for new valves and valve springs. I may also try another cam in the motor. If I do I need to figure that one out pretty quick or I wont get one in time. Meanwhile I've been working on the race trailer some. I'm going to get the bent dovetail fixed along with other things that need to be addressed. Our first race is in 8 weeks in Belle Rose La. I'm itching to go already. Happy New Year everyone. |

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...320&fit=bounds https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...320&fit=bounds I have been working on my trailer a lot lately. I'm trying to fix a lot of things and possibly repaint it sometime this year. Two years ago I hit a Buzzard at 75 mph that bounced off my windshield and then hit the trailer. It took me 3 or 4 hours but I pulled an interior panel out behind the the nose. Beat on it inside and out and worked around the soup bowled dent till I got it to stay round. It's hardly noticeable now. Now I don't have to tell the funny story about how the dent got there. |

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...320&fit=bounds Back to working on the truck. One thing I needed to do before the first race was change the oil. I got tired of burning money on oil filters so I called Joe at Sunset Performance and ordered this slick little unit. It spins apart for easy inspection and is cleanable. So it should pay for itself in a couple of seasons. I paid $20 for an oil filter on my Onan generator. Racing filters aren't going down either. |
Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
I only had a small to do list for the truck. One was floats and needle and seats for the carburetors. I spent a couple of hours Saturday working on the carbs trying to fine tune float springs for more consistent operation. I went back to the old style of float I ran for years hoping it will help with my 60ft inconsistency issued. I also got the oil changed and new filter installed. I'm swapping my slicks around on the wheels today and will run them five more races. I still need to get new spark plugs and lash the valves then it will be ready to go. The trailer is supposed to go to the shop tomorrow to straighten out the bent dove tail. Then I just have to clean everything up and load up. Our first race is Feb 24th in Belle Rose, Louisiana.
