Thoughts on Jasper Engines or better alternative?
 

My engine blew last weekend and I wanted to put in an LS but it's to expensive and I don't have the time to do it myself. The shop my truck is in recommended I put a jasper engine in. Any thoughts about these engines or a better alternative? Thanks

When I was in the auto repair business, I remember Jasper's were rebuilds. They always required the core. I dont know if they offer new or not.

Google crate engine. I recently put one in my Blazer. It was pretty straight forward and runs great. It wasnt much more then a rebuilt.

I know this is a couple of years old, but just wanted to add my experience. I just had a shop put a Jasper 350 in my '70 C20, and I kept my core with a core charge of $420.

After my buddy's GM crate motor broke in his Typhoon and they replaced it including all the labor as well as the motor, oil cooler lines, and front diff that the errant rod took out, I couldn't imagine NOT buying the GM crate motor...

I have heard great things about BluePrint engines, and I also have an ATK Rebuild (300I6 Ford truck engine) in my F100, no complaints with the ATK engine, it has about 20k miles, and runs fine, typical seals starting to leak from a 10 year old rebuilt I6.

If I was buying a 350 small block, and wasnt going with a GM Performance, I would probably try my luck with a BluePrint engine.

I have used 3 blue print motors for mild builds, all 302 from speed way. I have been and so have the guys with the broncos are happy. All the motors have a few thousand miles on them and run grate. Best $3500 motor out their.

I am sure their 350 is just as good. Not crazy power but they were not drag cars.
