66 SB Step Side- Ex Air Force Base Truck
I just purchased this today in Northern California. 66 SB step side. It was originally gold. It spent most of it's life on an Air Force base and painted blue.

For the future i want to bag all 4 corner, replace the tail lights and do a steel bed floor. Here is a picture of my last build. 49 Corn Binder on an S10 frame. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/...3c1e1b91_z.jpg |

Got my truck on Saturday. Got it running well enough on bad old gas to drive it around the block.

Re: 66 SB Step Side- Ex Air Force Base Truck
I am not a fan of primer as a color or finish. I would rather have old beat up paint. So a little color sand and buff on the original blue after the wife spent hours stripping of the primer and military paint.

Re: 66 SB Step Side- Ex Air Force Base Truck
Thought I would share the rear bag install.
Notched the control arms to clear the air bag mounting bolts. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6222/...6d9f42fb_z.jpg Welded the lower plate. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6019/...bfb4eb1e_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6218/...96d478e6_z.jpg Welded a bolt to the inside of the cup. You have to weld it off center to clear everything. The bolt was 8" long and the cup was cut down from 3.25" to 2.75" with the plazma torch. The bolt/stud goes all the way through the frame not just the lower part. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6054/...f804a709_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6116/...91c127d4_z.jpg |
