Break lights stay on (occasionally)

Totally redid back drums and front discs, replaced a front caliper. Brakes work great. But sometimes the brake pedal doesn't raise back up enough to let off the switch to shut off the lights. I got down there and raised the pedal as much as I thought I should, I know it's not supposed to be more than an inch or something like that higher than gas. Is there something I'm missing? Is there something in the linkage under the hood that should be greased, etc? I'm getting used to using the toes of my shoe with my other foot to raise the pedal back up, not a habit I want to get into!

If your brake pedal return spring is not missing or broken I would have to agree with Cliff. Lube all of the pedal pivot points and the main cross shaft in the brake/clutch pedal bracket. If I remember correctly there are nylon bushings on each end of the brake pedal cross shaft.

Sometimes the brake light switch gets out of adjustment. Some of them fit loosely in the mounting hex. And over time they might losen sometimes or the bracket gets moved your bent.
