1970 2wd Blazer Restoration

1 Attachment(s)
My 1970 convertible station wagon car truck is finally getting an overhaul. I've had this Blazer since 2008 and have done absolutely nothing with it but take it apart. I have had a few other projects in the mean time, but now, it is the Blazer's turn. Follow me on this thread, Instagram (70bLSzr), and my Youtube channel (70bLSzr Restoration Install Videos) for this frame off LS swapped restomod. I'll be going over the products I use, reviews, and posting how to photos and videos. I'm using what I believe are the industries best products and you may think otherwise, but please, only positive feedback. This photo is how it was purchased back in 2008.

So the Blazer is in Oklahoma with my parents, I'm in South Carolina, so I paid a transport company to bring it to me, and starting next week.....it's about to go down. Before they could ship it, my dad and to put it back together.

This is the rendering I had KP Concepts come up for me. It'll be a steel blue/battleship grey satin paint with a Satin Black top. The grill and tail light trim will be brushed aluminum as well as the Coy's C-55 wheels.

The original top on my Blazer was kaput! Well it was more rigged than anything, so I trashed it. Here is the double wall top off of a 1971 GMC Jimmy I picked up. It's in great shape! A small hope in the driver side rear I'm getting glassed but great nonetheless. The hatch is perfect! Had a friend find it in Iowa! How in the hell did these things get so expensive?

So being that I am impatient, I started buying parts as of Black Friday and haven't stopped since then...I'll attach prices if you need me to, I just didn't want to seem like an a**hole.

I picked up this complete TBSS 90mm intake off of an LS forum.

I also picked up these 2005 Silverado 1500 seats! Great freaking price from my local auto salvage yard and in even better shape! of course I'll reupholster them though.

So I haven't even talked about the LS swap!! A buddy of mine found me a 2003 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3/4L60 and only 55,000 miles! It was a steal of a price too! I'm debating on which cam to use, possibly a BTR stage II. I think I'll pair that with a Circle D 2800-3000 stall converter.

For helping him find another set of Silverado seats like the ones I posted earlier, he gave me these! Factory original in great condition!

Looks like you have a plan. Nice blazer to start with.

Good luck, Rg

Thanks! yes it does look like I have a good blazer to start with, however it has its issues. I'll be posting them soon. I need to replace both rockers, kick panels, and a good portion of the floor. The previous owner used fiberglass to hide the rust and corrosion. :(

Nice project. I have a 71 Jimmy just up the street from you. Mine looks like what you bought. Popular color. I bought mine in 2010. It too sat in the garage a long time. I finally did an engine swap, etc. Then I got old and unhealthy. I drive it and enjoy it but never finished it. Hope you have better luck on yours. They're fun trucks.

Well here is the shell shock, I have a tiny bit of metal work to do and corrosion to resolve. I also have to fix this monstrosity of an antenna hole the previous owner patched over the original filler neck hole. Something I hope to reuse.

I would run some bracing between the door openings while you have the top off AND the doors off.
These tubs will tweak out of shape fairly easy.
Just a thought.
