1965 C10 factory exhaust

Hey fellas, how are you yall tonight?

So I bought a pretty much all original '65 C10 283ci long bed a while back and have been working on the exhaust. Since the truck is fairly original, I want to try to keep it that way exhaust included. When I drove the truck home, I noticed quite a few exhaust leaks and it turned out to be both the "y" pipe and extension pipe were rusted out. Unfortunately, both pipes can't be saved because they were both too thin. I've replaced the "y" pipe with Walker part #42087 which was a perfect fit. The only problem is finding a new replacement for the extension pipe. The only extension pipe I can find is Walker #48111 which is for a L6 engine and not a v8 like the truck has. My truck came with a 2 inch "y" pipe and extension pipe.

Do any of you know where to get an extension pipe for a v8 long bed truck? Unfortunately, the cheapest quote that I got from an exhaust guy was $225....just for the extension pipe. I can't seem to find one. Any help would be appreciated.

There is a place on Ebay selling complete exhausts from Y pipe back, I used there's on my truck.

Last time I looked, the Walker over the axle pipe is OOS. They will make more eventually.

Thank you for all of your replies. LT1 Burb, do you remember which vendor you bought from? I searched ebay for the said kit and again, all I found were kits for the L6 trucks. I may just have to buy the L6 expansion pipe and modify it myself.

Thanks again for replying.

Well, unfortunately no reply from the eBay exhaust guy LT1Burb. Thank you all for your posts. Do yall think if I bought the L6 version of the expansion pipe, that I could modify it and make it work? Is the L6 manifold flange the same as the "y" pipe flange? I can get the L6 pipe all day long. Please let me know.

I guess you could check, donut size will determine pipe size so maybe hit up local parts store and check to see if they are the same.

Have you made any progress?
I need to find something from the y-pipe back for my 66.

Re: 1965 C10 factory exhaust

Thank you guys for all your replies. Sadly the eBay exhaust guy that Lt1Burb referred me to has stopped returning my emails so my hunt continues.

LostMy65: My search has revealed that Walker no longer makes the extension pipe for the V8 trucks.....they only make the pipes for the L6 trucks.....makes sense to me...:bs:. So, at the moment, the only thing I can think of to do is to shop around some more at the local exhaust shops and go from there. Ill keep this thread going with updates if I find anymore info.

Another question for you guys......Would any of you have a set of stock GM manifolds for a 283 truck? I read that the 327 trucks had a 2 1/2" flange while the 283's has the 2" flange like the ones I have. Mine are cracked and leaking badly. Please let me know what y'all have and throw some prices at me.

Thanks for your time.

You can buy new.
Among others, Dorman makes them for both 2.5 & 2

I am looking at putting stock single exhaust back on my 66 burb. I have been in contact with WALDRON'S EXHAUST 800-503-9428 or Waldron@waldronexhaust.com

Is it OK to show this stuff?

I've cobbled a few pieces together from the junk yard into a dual exhaust to make it driveable until I can get it done properly. Now that winter has set in I can't work on it until warmer weather comes back.

Have you checked Rockauto?
