Door Lock Pawl is Loose

I have the passenger side door on and lined up... I have new lock cylinders but I only have one pawl I took off an old door.
I put it on the new cylinder and it has a lot of play, like 1/4-3/8 back and forth movement with the key out.
I stuck it back on the old cylinder and it has a lot there too.
Should these be tight?
yes I did search....

They have to have the free movement so you can turn them back to center to remove the key after you lock or unlock them.

Re: Door Lock Pawl is Loose

I’ve installed the Altman EZ latch and the pawls are actually straight rather than having the 90 degree bend on the end…I found the new ones in the kit.
It works perfectly..
