Seat edge support springs
1 Attachment(s)
My seat is collapsing on the drivers edge and I can feel wire poking through, which I’m assuming is one of the seat edge springs as shown in the LMC diagram (item #4). Anyone replaced these before? How many are used per side? Can they be replaced from the bottom without removing the upholstery? I haven’t had the chance to pull my seat out yet and it’s hard to see up under there. Thanks!

Re: Seat edge support springs
I’ve replaced them, I think it comes with one per side. My problem was the outer horizontal spring was broken in several places. You can probably pull upholstery back, fix spring and hog ring or clip back

They do only come 1 per side, but you can add up to 3 per side. I do 2 per side. And it’s almost impossible to replace these, unless the seat is completely torn down and the foam is removed. And there’s no hog ringing a broken spring. I have seen so many jimmy jack repairs when it comes to these broken springs. Fix the things the right way, install new springs.
This what I see the most, people but a block of foam in there. Again, you go to all the trouble of stripping the seat, then why not fix it right. |
Re: Seat edge support springs
Was probably unclear there, hog ring the upholstery back after fixing the springs. You can make the spring yourself with right gauge wire. Not restoring a rolls here and jimmy-jacking is an American tradition
