we finally got a break in the weather and the sun came out, so I decided to take the engine for a walk

Do yourself a favor and do NOT break that lower dipstick tube and do not misplace it lol. Be lucky you still have it.

somehow I am always happier behind a wheel, even if it is a 4 inch on an angle grinder, ha ha
I don't know about you, but I can find plenty of things to cut my hands on under the hood, so I decided the engine block wasn't gonna be one of them time to smooth out that casting crust |

I would replace those steel cast plugs with some brass ones while you are at it its cheap and should never leak if installed correctly that's not a fun job with the engine in the truck/car

the harmonic balancer was a dirt magnet for sure, I'm surprised it stayed balanced with that 9 pounds of dirt stuck to it |

while those bits were soaking I got started on the engine
got the front side cleaned |

Check your harmonic balancer for cracks in the rubber as it may need replacing and now is a perfect time to invest in that.
Oh and your missing the lower bolt on the right side of the block at the front to secure the fuel push rod. This area WILL seep and leak oil if you do not put the bolt back in. |

Every time I try to get out - they pull me back in!
as I was spinning the engine block on that engine stand, I realized that it was sliding out of the rotating thingmajig, so I decided to use a C clamp from time to time to pull it back in, you know to prevent getting dead so if you gots a similar stand, be careful you hear, engine blocks are expensive! |

time to do the passenger side set of cylinder banks 2-4-6-8 who do we appreciate?
I covered the other end with a rag, and kept the cylinders slightly pointed down, so when I shot brake cleaner in there to rinse them out, the debris would flow down hill and out the cylinder, seemed to work |
