If any of you ever put your subs under your seat could you please post some dimensions and pictures? I would really appreciat it.

Re: Subs under the seat

Hey man I explored that option at length! There isn't room under there for a nice install of any sub that i found. there is a rod that runs side to side. Also there wasn't enough room under there for even an 8 in sub with the magnet in a custom box. Let alone enough volume in the box to support it. I decided to buy some really high quality componet speakers from boston accoustics to compensate for the lack of subs, didn't install them. I got rearended and now i want to sell the truck. The only place i found to hold the 6" mids was a custom center console....had to make it. I already had 5 1/4's in the doors so they might go in your doors if there's a vacancy. Nice sound in these old trucks just depends on how custom your project is getting. I have a lot of ideas for my next one.

How many people drive your truck and need to move the seat? If it never gets moved just get rid of the rod or cable that runs side to side and you can fit for sure a pair of shallow 8's or 10's down there. I think LongNlow72 has pics of his setup with a pair of JL 10w0's and an amp in the middle.

Re: Subs under the seat

blaupunkt makes super shallow subs - the overdrive series. also, i had a kicker solobaric 8" in a factory wegde box that fit under the pass side. i did cut the cable and attachment point, but i never move my seat, either. you still can move the seat by pressing in the tab on the pass side and using the lever for the driver side. they just no longer work together. my phoenix gold amp sat on the hump hear the gas tank. worked awesome! wish it had not gotten stolen...

if you have one of the earlier seats that are foam only, you may not have room, but my 72 seat with springs worked, the springs sat on the speaker grill, but it worked...and rocked! just measure front and back height, length and width and check with local stereo shops for a wedge box that matches your dimentions. might have to jack up the front of the seat with a washer or two...

:agree:

Google for low profile subwoofer and you'll find a slew of them.

Re: Subs under the seat

I ran a pair of MTX 8" subs in the MTX boxes under my seat, they fit fine after I shimmed the seat up about 1.5". I did have to undo the seat adjustment rod though. Then when the speakers finally crapped out, I removed them and reconnected the rod.

Re: Subs under the seat

There is more room under bucket seats than bench. I have about 7" height so Im making a box for 8" kickers...

Re: Subs under the seat

i explored the under the seat options, i used to have pics of some setups but i ended up going with 2 12" PIONEER premier the thin series shown above. problem is the seats eat most of the bass. thick ass lincoln navigator seats press up against the subs so it absorbs the bass or alot of it at least

Re: Subs under the seat

Is there more room under the seats than behind them?

Re: Subs under the seat

Im not big into car audio I just want something to play my rock and metal louder. So I was thinking of either 2-10's or 1-10 and running my two 6x9's in my door off the amp and getting two tweater for my dash and running them off the deck or maybe the amp.

How do those bass tubes sound? What is a good brand for them? Do you just buy the tube and add any 8 in sub?

What about one of these 8's under the dash like this? Or two under the seat?

Re: Subs under the seat

BowTieMan, can you remember who did that bass tube in the corner like that? It looks like a bazooka bass tube, and I was just wondering if it was a 6" or 8" that they used, and how it sounds off of how much power.

I really wish at this time I could remeber. I thought it was an 8 and at the time he didn't try it yet, but this was a while ago so maybe he will see this and post some more info.

bowtie man, i am really lost on whats going on in the kicker sub install....want to explain?lol

BowTieMan 11-29-2005 05:45 PM

Re: Subs under the seat

The kicker sub install is two tens in one big box that has them facing up toward the seat. The way he took the second and thrid picture make it confusing.

Re: Subs under the seat

yeah the under the seat sub boxes were a bit of a challenge, the only thing I had to remove was the wire goin under the seat to slide it forward and back, it still moves just takes 2 people but how often do most poeple move the seat?

Re: Subs under the seat

I really like that corner tube design, wish we knew who did it. It really looks like the best option as most of the bass under a seat will get muffled anyway (that is if you care about quality).
