Bingo. They get warm after the engine runs ans gently fall out. 71 72 had screw on type. Glad to see you out with that truck. I would love to see it in person. Maby someday.

Dale...you're a winner in my book for having the courage to play. Eric will suffer the Karma of cheating. He's going to have to work on a Ranchero Squire for at least 3 months...is the consequence worse than the crime? Yes, of course it is. But he also made the mistake of being nice to a Ford person. And that rarely goes well.

After more than year in NorthEast Georgia with me, we finally loaded up the truck for the trip to my brother's. Pulled out at 6am and arrived exactly 3 hours later. We packed a little surprise for him (one that you'll appreciate Pete)...a set of freshly painted rallys (OLDYELLOW signature series). My brother has always wanted those darn rallys on there. But he better have some super crisp center caps and trim rings if they're going on this truck!

It was a fun day...felt more like a christening as we received a mini parade of family and friends (responsibly of course) to check it out. Who knows what the future holds for the truck. That's up to him. But much like the birth of baby...the pain fades and is often forgotten (says the dad). And all I seem to remember today is the fun.

If your brother needs a nice set of caps for the rally wheels have him reach out to me. I've got the take-off NOS set that were briefly used on my Blazer but the trim rings went to another member.

Thanks Dale...It was a beautiful day with a gorgeous sky and I took a bunch of pics for that reason. I'm also resigned to the fact that he may not keep it long. She might get put in a reed basket and pushed down the Nile very soon, we'll see. It's his truck and I'm more than cool with it. I have learned that for me, the fun is in the process. And though I was often complaining, I had a lot of fun in this build.

You are always too generous. He's got some supposedly NOS caps...don't know about the trim rings. Neither have fallen under my eye. He was quick to point out the NOS back up light lenses to all comers yesterday and the kindness of a man named New Mexico from Wisconsin.

I think Pete's nailed it. I've got a 1970 K20 that is most definitely a keeper for me, but I've got some time. Eric is in fact about to start on a Ranchero Squire (he's finishing up a 72 Blazer now). To say he's not thrilled about working on a Ford car/truck...cruck? trar?...is an understatement. But it makes for some good natured ribbing. And it gives me time to get ahead of him with sub-assembly restoration and parts farming for the K20.

My friend you are nearing 10K posts on this site. They have ranged from insightful, to educational, to encouraging and even inspirational...but that post may be your best one ever. :lol: Thanks for "slapping it" in this thread....and for all your help and encouragement.

Where did you source your '69 door panels from? Did you glue them to the original metal panels, or did you go with the abs backed set? What are your thoughts on the quality versus original?

I know I have asked and you have answered before, but, where did you get the radiator hoses? I have spent the last tow hours going through this thread and cant find it. :lol:

Yes, bought the reproductions from CarandTruckShop (the one in North Carolina). I felt the quality was very good. All the holes are predrilled and in the correct spaces. But the vinyl itself isn't punched, so it gives you the option. On the Blazer I didn't punch them and used industrial velcro...which is what we did on the rear panels too. On this truck, we wanted to be as factory correct as possible, so velcro wasn't an option...so it got screws and ferrules at the bottom.

Thanks. If you really want to see me cuss a snap ring...click on the tractor build in my signature. There was a thick constant section snap ring on the front spindle that pushed me to the limit (in fairness it had been on the tractor for over 70 years). I was surprised that I made it through the affair without the neighbors calling the cops.

Well...here's a postscript of sorts. My brother did in fact sell the truck. Some of you may have seen the eBay listing. While it did not meet the reserve during the auction run, there was a lot of activity. I fielded a lot of calls, emails and messages...and they continued well after the auction ended. This week a deal did come together and of all places she ended up just an hour away from Athens. I delivered her personally and wiped her down one last time. She went to a very good home and will sit next to a very original '69 K5.

Once more, I just want to thank Eric for all his efforts and my brother for finding us a '69 K10 SWB to work on...as well as all of you for your help and encouragement.

...on to the next one.
