I agree swamp rat. Orange it is.
Anyone want to see the difference between a stretched transfer case chain and a new one???? The picture is the most the old one would bend. Versus the new one in a ball. |

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"
Tonight I started to put the late 90's serpentine kit I bought from a forum member a few years ago and never used. I pulled the rebuilt water pump out and it does not have a heater hose attachment. So before I mount it I need to find out what the correct water pump I need. Any ideas? Well the search begins. Pictures tomorrow

I was able to work on the front serpentine belt system. I had to order a new pulley for the non-AC bracket as it was a little rough. Nice thing about this system is if I want to add AC I just need to remove the filler bracket and replace with the AC conpressor.
Posting from my iPhone or iPad limits me to 1 picture at a time. That is stupid. |

Pulled a few more boxes out of storage. I have these Hedman headers, the receipt read Sept 1997. I have had them longer then my 2 youngest sons. Lol.
They are for late 70' early 80's 4x4 truck as I originally bought them for my 85' k10 I used to have. |

Had to test fit the headers and the engine mounts. I think it will work fine as long as it doesn't hit the frame rails.
I think I want to move the engine forward an inch or 2. As the current HEI dizzy is very close to the firewall. Is there a problem other than driveshaft issues? |
Re: Project "Hulk Jr"
Looking Good!!
I probably missed it are you running vortec heads on that? It looks like it has all the holes for your serp setup. I have all the brackets and maybe all the bolts for one when I get to mine! Just read it in your other thread vortec heads |

yes there a pair of ported and polished Vortec heads I did back in 1997 and never used. (house, family, kids etc. you know) with most of the stuff on this engine minus the block from 1996 or 1997.(even found the receipts) I guess I should have listed what I had for it. Engine stuff: Vortec heads Stainless steel Manley valves High lift springs Summit cam comp grind ( not sure the specs I will have to get the cam card) Double roller timing chain(also had Gear drive but thought that would be a bit much, but love the sound) Melling high volume oil pump Performer intake Duel plane for the Vortec heads Summit magnetic pick up HEI Dizzy. Hedman long tube headers Holley 650 Carb I am sure I am missing something.... The front drive assembly I got from a board member just added the bracket to eliminate the AC compressor. the system looks good. I just have to alter the PS pump bracket as I am using headers. I will be posting a few more pictures |

Finished up the front accessory drive and installed spark plugs, water temp sensor and a few plugs to get it ready to install.

Re: Project "Hulk Jr"
Nice, is that a chrome pan as well?
|
Re: Project "Hulk Jr"
Yes I tried not to buy anything I already had. Hope the chrome will not rust out fast.

So my son wanted to drive the truck before we pulled it apart for the heart transplant. So this morning he pumped the gas pedal and pulled the choke. Turned the key and BOOM! A very very loud back fire. I went outside and this is what the muffler looked like. Not a clear picture but the dark part is where the muffler split at the seam. He said "I only pumped the gas pedal twice" yeah right!!!
Now it sounds like destruction derby car!,, hahaha |

Didn't see any bananas. But a lot of loose bolts and dirt packed in every nook and crannie of the running gear.
More pictures to come, as yesterday we disassembled the front end and pulled the motor/trans/tcase. The truck is atleast 2" higher in the front after removing the all cast iron running gear. I bet it is half the weight of the truck. |

Here are some pictures of the mess I made.... I started in the back and rebuilt the drum brakes and replaced the bearings and seals. While I was doing this I had my sons removing the front sheet metal ready for removal. Since I had some help I didn't stop to take any pictures...

Here is the picture of the interior after I ripped out the steering column and working on removing the clutch pedal and accessories.
I am ordering new bushings and u bolts so I will be getting the dash replaced with the Tach dash I acquired. |

Decided to get the front axle and suspension out of the way so I could check out the frame and get the brake lines bent up. Like anything 48 years old I found a broken rivet on the front cross member and replaces the front driver leaf spring perch bolts with 7/16 grade 8 bolts washers and top lock nuts. As someone used 3/8".
