Cadillac Ranch??
A guy down the road has an old Eldorado for sale real cheap. The car is basically junk. Not worth fixing.
So. here's my hare brained idea. (Is it hare brained or hair brained, I really don't know) Either way here's my dumb idea. Buy the POS. Borrow my buddy's backhoe. Dig a big hole and put it nose down in the yard as yard art like the Cadillac Ranch. I think it would be an interesting conversation piece. Really. Who has a Cadillac buried in their yard with its rear end looking up to heaven? If the county gives me a problem I'll just tell them it's an old car parked in my yard. I told my wife that I was thinking about buying the old Cadillac and she said "You're going to bury it" I swear that woman can read my mind. |
Re: Cadillac Ranch??
It's hare-brained, as in you are as smart as a jack-rabbit.
That's all I got -- no advice about the Cadillac. Oh, one thing. Be very nice to your wife. Any woman that can read your mind is potentially hazardous to your health. |
Re: Cadillac Ranch??
What engine is in it?

The motor runs (barely) I don't know if it's worth pulling. I'm not familiar with those motors. Part of me says fix it and drive it. It doesn't have a dent on it. But I feel that it would just be a money pit and I already have enough of those. No title. But the guy says he can get the paperwork. Yeah right. It's a 1984 Biarritz with the stainless steel roof. A very nice expensive car back in the day. But that ship has sailed for this one. The parts alone would cost too much to bring it back. It's just not worth it. Plus it will look cool sticking out of the ground. I would post pic's but I'm on my laptop and it's not cooperating. Neither is my phone. Computers are like women. They can do stuff that you want them to do but they wont do it. |
Re: Cadillac Ranch??
Be prepared for lots of people arriving in your yard with spray paint cans, painting on the car until the cans are empty, and then throwing the can and cap on your yard along with cigarette butts and energy drink cans and bottles. That's what happens at the Cadillac Ranch all day. The precedence has been set. It is sad to watch and I've seen it in person. Cadillac Ranch is an eyesore and dumbass attractant, except on TV and movies where it is cool.

Re: Cadillac Ranch??
I love any and all yard art! Maybe hack off the front clip and yank that engine. Turn that baby into a bbq. The Cadillac of grills! ;)

Re: Cadillac Ranch??
Go for it
Your street will be busier when the word gets out. |
Re: Cadillac Ranch??
Burying a Cadillac reminds me of Stevie Ray’s “Willie the wimp song.”

Re: Cadillac Ranch??
I was hoping for an older eldo with either the 472 or 500

Re: Cadillac Ranch??
I think it's too new and people won't get it. If it was a tailfin Caddy then yes. I think when the county comes after the complaints you'd be better off calling it art than an unregistered vehicle in the yard.

Re: Cadillac Ranch??
I bought it. But I'm not going to bury it. I kind of fell in love with it. Drove it home. It's a 1982 not an 84 like I thought. Pretty much the same. It's worth fixing. It's not as bad as I had first thought.
Not that it doesn't need work because it does. But not that much. 1 owner 90K. for $400 I'll roll the dice. I wish I could post pics but my stupid laptop won't do it for some reason that I can't figure out.. I'll just have to find some other old POS to bury. I wonder if my ex wife is busy? :D |
