chancing out 4x4 front end
 

I have a 70 k10 4x4 with drum brakes on the front. I recently picked up a 72 4x4. I want to put the 72 rear end in the 70 for the disc brakes. It looks like it will fit and the gear ratio is the same. Is there anything that I should look out for when installing. Thanks

I’ve done this recently. Your brake lines won’t line up and you’ll have to elongate a hole, but that’s about it. Pretty easy and an awesome upgrade in my opinion.

You could move the brake line to be closer to where they are in disc setup them stock 71 up 4x4 front brake hoses will be long enough

Extended full droop front suspension having them forward in the drum brake position may not provide enough brake hose length

Drum brake line is before the axle stop disc is after the axle stop

I have a '67 K/10 Suburban I want to put a '72-later D44 on the front of. That would give that beast power steering and power brakes. Features it sorely lacks.

so far changing out front end is going good. But it looks like one of the rotors is loose on the hub. I took it apart and cleaned it up, pressed it back together but its still loose. That can't be right ? It seems to me that it should be tight or is it ok ?

I can take a picture of my spare hub it is tight press fit deal

you can see the rotor goes behind the hub and wheel studs press through the rotor into the hub for a tight fit

Thanks for the info. I went out and got a new rotor and 6 new wheel studs, pressed it all together and it is good and tight now.
