New guy from Ohio with 53 suburban**UPDATE**
Hey all.
I posted a long winded intro on the intro page, but....maybe I should of saved it for here. Names Tim, from NE Ohio...near Youngstown I've had several 47-54 Chevy trucks, but with growing kids and a wife, just no room for us in a truck anymore. So I'm putting a 53 Suburban together now. It's a former Colorado Forestry vehicle, so it has the nice, beatdown dark green paint. That will stay! But it has a MII with drop spindles, and the c/m was raised up into the frame, so it sits real low without bags. Maybe bags in the future if too low... 350/350 combo And the rear is a No Limit Engineering fat-bar 4-link with bags, so it'll set lower:hm: I have 63 T-bird buckets for it and a re-done middle seat with a fold down cup holder thingy for the kids! haha All will be done in brite red T&R. So it'll look wild against the old dark green paint. Wide whitewalls and chrome steelies I should be driving it by mid May. Well, Hello and Cya:cool: Tim |

Thanks guys.
I don't really have any recent pics. I have one of when it left for my buddys place, where the work is being done. Here it is in all it's ugly glory, other than it sits about a foot lower now;) It's about 99% rust-free. Has a crease on the right rear fender, and a small dent on the left front lower fender. Otherwise, no rust anywhere. I'll get some updated pics soon. Be patient:new: |

Thanks for the welcome!
Here's a couple pics of trucks I've owned, let go. The black flamed 53 was an awesome truck..subframed, BBC/TH350, 9" rearend...you could eat off it anywhere! but I hated it as much as I loved it. I hate cleaning, and I always was watching it at cruises and shows...you know, too many chain-drive wallets, and purses. I hated being so worried. So it went down the road. The blue "weathered" 54 was more fun to me. I drove it almost daily, except when there was salt on the road. Subframed, 305/350, 10 bolt etc. But wasn't super low. It was a truck. We hauled motors/trannys, rearends etc with it. But, no room for me, my wife and two kids as they got older. Then the 48...MII, 350/350, S-10 rear....cool ol' truck The gold 64 was a fun truck. It had satin paint, so I didn't worry much, plus air ride etc. As you can tell...my tastes lean towards wide whitewalls;) Plus I've had a few others, but no pics:( Plus a couple 67-72 drivers. |

Re: New guy from Ohio with 53 suburban
WOW really nice trucks you have had. I know what u mean about show trucks..... and cleaning and worring about them. The other trucks looks sweet as well. If i ever get that 41 plymouth truck ( I know i know) i have been looking at it will stay flat black untill it is all ready for a simple paint job. Nice work and i can't wait to see how this burb turns out!!!

Re: New guy from Ohio with 53 suburban
I like your style sir! The white walls and faded paint are my thing too. The old paint is good on the pocket book and is easy to maintain!
