Radio Identification
 

I’ve got a 69 c10. Pulled the radio today and while I did google the info on the sticker and try to ID it myself, I’m hoping someone can help a girl out. I didn’t think it had ever been out of the truck, but when I started wiping off the dust I saw my Great Grandpa’s last name scribbled on the case in his handwriting. Might have gotten some dust in my eyes for a minute.

The numbers just don’t line up with what my noobie research says the serial numbers should mean.

So maybe it’s been rebuilt/replaced. I’d just like to know what I have and if I decide to get something to replace this (Bluetooth would be nice) you can guarantee I will at the very least be doing something amazing with this radio.

Looks like a stock radio someone painted black.

I've seen an all black face plate like that in GM vehicles but can remember what ones. It has the same shape as a original 67-72 truck but a different lens. Doing a search it comes up as a 74-75 chevy/gmc radio. Maybe a van? Here is a link that might help out.

Looks like a Van radio to me as well- I've never seen an original truck AM radio painted black.

61GVPB1 is for 1976 G-Van's


And a quick search popped up this EBay link to GM Radio manual just for this family of radios, in the description "61GVPB1 (9343061) (76 G van)"

Thanks for your help in this! Found a a few YouTube videos of guys cleaning old truck radios and one specifically of a guy putting back together what he said was a ‘72 truck radio so I could see just how everything goes together. They’re almost identical except where my lightbulb goes. I was able to clean everything, lube the moving parts, repaint the needle, and polish the buttons. I thought for a split second about repainting the face, but since I’m leaving the truck more or less how I got it and remember it from my childhood rides with Grandpa, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.

The lightbulb assembly pulled apart so I’ll be looking for a replacement but at least now I know what to look for!

No idea if it actually works because my speaker is blown out so I’ll get to replacing that, but in the meantime at least it looks way better.

Once I get the seal for my wiper motor installed this and the ashtray can go back in.
