Accelerator pedal position sensor

Never heard of that one before until now. If a throttle position sensor on the engine wasn't enough, they go and install a pedal position sensor on the accelerator pedal itself too!
I recently got a cel and reduced engine power message on my 06 GMC and sure enough it did power down. Would barely accelerate and top out at about 30 mph. I could turn the engine off and restart it and it would reset. Twice it coded while sitting idling in park and once in gear stopped. It coded P2120 and P2125 and I could see it was going to get worse so I bought a new pedal assembly from O'Reilly's at $86, Standard Ignition Products. Apparently there are 2 sensors in the pedal assembly and are not serviceable so we get to buy a pedal assembly. Ain't electronic engine management fun?

It's hard to tell if these new "electronicals" are more about helping the environment or more about selling parts. ;)

You are making my head hurt. Yeah I agree, the electrical stuff is driving me nuts on the newer trucks. Some of it is nice as long as it works, but then........@#$%^%$#@. Guess that is why my 98 is the newest and seems to be the most troublesome.

Re: Accelerator pedal position sensor

I wish there was a "short throw" (for lack of a better term) gas pedal assembly for the '14 Tahoe. Never have liked how far I have to push it to get going. I think they (GM, EPA) have done it that way to make the trans short shift for fuel economy. If I push the gas pedal in the '69 and '70 as much as the Tahoe, tires will be spinning.

Pedal enhancer/amplifier is what you're wanting.
