Not much got accomplished this weekend, a wedding and mothers day kinda ate the whole weekend up. Although I did get the LCAs and UCAs on! I got heim-joints with everything I ordered but there was a problem with the left hand threads not working with the right hand threads on trailing arms. The ID on the heims were kinda not right either. The bigger ID heims should be right hand thread for the trailing arms and smaller ID heims should be for the tie rods. Well that's not confusing at all!!! :uhmk:

Got off the phone with Travis at Pro Performance, seems I was missing a couple of things. My Porterbuilt panhard bar was left out of my order and my lower shock mount crossmember for the rear was left out plus 2 other heim joints. Looks like I will be waiting again........

This weekends progress was not too bad. After being concerned that I had not received all of my items from Porterbuilt I looked in every box, including the one that had been moved while the shop was being cleaned....and there it was. Duhhhh. At least I had all the parts needed to finish building the frame and to move on to the brakes. Whew!!

It looks like you were able to keep all of the Blazer body mounts. Is that correct?

Yep, as far as I can tell it looks that way. The PB rear end kicked the frame rails out a little in the rear but I won't know how much until I do a fitment with the body. When the bar between the c-notches was installed that pulled them in some.

what's with the lug nut holes on that rotor? they don't make a chevy 5 bolt pattern?

They are chevy, 5 and 6 lug rotors. This is how they came from Pro Performance.

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd

A little update is due! I had a nice Memorial Day, thanks to all our veterans!! Hope you all did as well! I was able to get the front c-notches installed with some changes to the measurements I was provided from PB. I guess the 6.0 DM is situated a little further forward than past versions. After getting the notches in I was able to mount the rack and pinion, which fit well, and decided to mount the old rims and set it on the ground for the first time. :metal:

Here are the pics!!!
The PO had torched holes in the frame that allowed it to crack, I cut the stiffener out and patched it and added a hump over that for strength.
Attachment 1407776
Attachment 1407777
The measurements called for 4 1\8 but that wouldn't work with the new 6.0 version DM. Had to move it to 5 1/4 to centerline the notch.
Attachment 1407778
As you can see in this pic, the bright white mark is way too far back so I double measured and put the rack and pinion in diagonally to check clearance. I had to move it up quite a bit!
Attachment 1407779
Welded the notch in on the backside....don't laugh, I had forgotten to turn on the gas.....

I used my new plasma cutter to cut the frame, love that tool!!! Very little grinding to get the notch in.
Attachment 1407787
Since I was having soooo much fun with the welder, I decided to triple weld the notches in on the outside.
Attachment 1407788
Just so I could spend hours having fun grinding it down to make it look nice.
Attachment 1407789
After drilling out the spindle tie rod holes I added the rack and pinion to the DM. Those 15 inch rims didn't leave much room for the 14 inch rotors!!! Had to pull the calipers off so they would fit.....
Attachment 1407790
TOUCHDOWN!!!! I added the rearend to the frame and was able to lay it out on the shop floor!!!!!:metal::metal:

This is looking awesome! I am digging the look of the new DM version 6..

I realize it's mockup phase and all, but just in case you missed it, I think on the Extreme Dropmembers the trailing arms need to be in the lowest mounting position on the cross member..

Keep up the good work..

A small update for the week, but progress is progress!!! The frame is no longer swiss cheese, got a lot of the holes welded up. Also started to delete the holes in the firewall, it felt good to do something on the body. I do have full covers for the firewall so this is just practice. Slosh Tubz sales smooth firewall panels if you didn't know!! I'm sure Mike Losh would be happy to hook ya up!! (Shameless plug)

are you going to weld the rear notch in or just be left bolted? obviously welded would look cleaner but can it be left just as a bolt in?
that PB stuff sure looks nice to work with.

After pondering that exact question over and over in my mind I concluded that it will remain a bolt in. It does look really nice in a mechanical way, it adds something to the frame since all the holes are now history. Another thing that many people do not realize is that when you order PB you can get it in either bolt-on or weld in. I didn't know this when I ordered but the bolt in was what I wanted. Glad to have you swingin by the build, it's been a while!!!:metal:

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd

27 holes on each side of the frame are filled. Now to fill the larger holes and slots. Doesn't look like swiss cheese any longer! I should be able to get more done.....my last day at work is this Thursday, layoffs suck!!! I'll be back in the saddle again soon!!
