1968 50th anniversary short wide - build
Have had this truck around for 15 years purchased it from original owner it was missing a engine and transmission and some interior parts original buddy buckets needed new covers. But lucky to have all the sheet metal in really good shape. After years decided to start a build thread of it been picking a away at it past 2 years get it done this summer.
The Toyota wheels are just rollers for paint work have a set of steelies with dog dish caps. |

A few pics. Time to install 67-68 style side trim, redrilling holes that didn’t line up on body parts very well between bed can and fenders. Toyota wheels are just for rolling around have a set of dogdish Steelies Going on when finishing it up.

I also have a 50th anniversary but in a C20 Custom Camper. I'm not sure what original paint exists under the cheap rattle can primer, although I'm anxious to find out. Right now I'm concentrating on getting it to driver status after correcting the ride height and stance with new tires and coil springs for the front and new leaf springs for the rear. Love the photos of your truck and like the new paint job. Did you do the paint job yourself? |

I would start a new thread in the "67-72 Projects and Builds" Forum. Or I can move this one there. LockDoc |

Nice looking truck good luck with build. Answer: yes I’ve done all my own body work - board sanding and most of the body panels have been hot caustic dipped then phosphate coated. Seriously reduces future rust developing with good primer and paint cost over it. Use a little older Binks M1-G gun and shooting single stage urethane. It’s easy to work with and forgiving if ya make mistakes can sand out and re shoot. Time to paint the tailgate and rear white letters. |
