Well, Ignored the little red fourwheeler this afternoon.

I finished grinding/torching my hitch, its ready for welding (Too thick to MIG weld gf dad said). So I gotta find a 220 outlet to plug the ARC welder into.

Also, I got my parking brake fixed still have a bit more adj. to do but its close. Going to do this mod too in the future.

Im giong to go soak em in something to get the oil/grease off tonite, then tomorow cut em down! Heres the link im going by, I love the DIY FAQS THAT'RE MORE EXPENSIVE/LESS TIME CONSUMING THEN BUYING IT NEW/POWDERCOATED BUT YOU CAN SAY 'I MADE THOSE MYSELF!'

Oh I thought it was decent and good pricing. Let me know if you have one with lower prices then them. I am restoring my 69' c20 Heavy half. Chopping bed up, dropping it and putting new running gears.. Rebuillt engine last year with a hipo 400, all new heads, Edelbrock top end.. gotta finsish the body now before summer gets here..

Well I got to finally meet ol hubscrub, he came out today to get some patches for his truck bed. So everyone needs to bother him until he gets em burnt in

I pulled the drums off of my 5 lug rearend I have, debating to scrap it or hang onto it in hopes someone can get it ready to run for me or not..

I got 2 steelies to redo, just need 2 more now. Heres some pix of the hitch I took the other nite for you guys too btw.

aww thanks, i thought about it on the way home and i don't see why you couldn't get it to work for ya. i guess you could crack it open to see how the gears are.......

Re: "Rice Rocket'

john looks good get that hitch welded and installed! why can you use that axle?

Hubscrub 02-19-2011 09:09 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

btw. i used about between 1/2 to 3/4 tank comeing home i went through man. tull. and lynchburg:lol:

oldblue1968chevy 02-19-2011 10:03 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

Not bad, not bad

I dunno yet on the axle, everyone said in the thread it oughta work? I just hate to fix it up (paint bearings brakes seals) and install it, and then have it crap out on me or something..

But it would be awesome if it would work!!!!

67chevy1series 02-19-2011 10:05 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

listen john go out there get that axle road worthy and then one day take your axle out (keep the 6 lug axle) and then put the new 5 lug one in and run aorund in it if it craps out then put the 6 lug back in no harm just work!

oldblue1968chevy 02-19-2011 10:46 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

Yeah, LOTTA work lol

And Id really wanna put new bearings/seals on it first.

Im trying to figure out what yoke I can use (preferbly from another model, because 67 72 are kinda hard to find, esp. easy to get to the yoke (usualy up to their axles in mud lol)

usmcchevy 02-19-2011 10:49 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

If you're talking about the axle that was missing the pinion yolk, the gears are junk. Even if it was only used as a trailer.

Doesn't your 6 lug axle have the narrow 2" brakes(non-finned drum)? If it does you could slide the 5 lug axles in and use the 5 lug drums (wider finned drums). Sure the axles are longer, but the drums being wider make up for it so the brakes work. Not completely correct, but will work. just an idea

oldblue1968chevy 02-19-2011 11:06 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

Im not trying to contradict ya,but I started a thread in the main section (posted a link above) and everyone over there said it'll work with a yoke, maybe they didnt read that IT WAS USED AS A TRAILER).

Its non finned drums on my 6 lug rear...

usmcchevy 02-19-2011 11:23 PM

Re: "Rice Rocket'

I'll re phrase. I would not use it with the current gears. The pinion looks to be missing the front bearing which would have let the pinion work up and down as it moved causing damage and a weird wear pattern. It may be ok, but is it worth the risk? To me, no.
