Parts (LMC vs. Classic Parts)

I'm sure this has been debated enough already and I am seeing not so great reviews out there for both. I assume the both pretty much get their parts from the same vendors. Anyway my question: I am about to be ordering rear springs, rear shocks, trailing arm bushings, track arm bushings, track arm stud, maybe brake lines, brake cylinders and attaching hardware for these components. I can find everything in need on the LMC website but not on classic. How would these items differ being ordered from one or the other. Any other places to look for parts? None of my local auto parts stores have much to choose from. Also this is for my 1970 C10.

If you are close to Kentucky I would suggest Southern Kentucky Classics , or the other major vendors on this forum . Classic Heartbeat is one , GMC Pauls is another , Nsane Hotrods in Tennessee , anyone but the 2 you listed for me .

Everything flashed said.
I will add one more to flashed's list
Donavon at Huey's Classic Auto Parts
https://www.facebook.com/pg/Hueyscla...art/community/

Donavon is a great guy.

Family business and I get most all my parts from him or SoKy Classic's

.

LMC has a great catalog to show you where things go but thats it for me . Lots of great vendors on this forum that will treat you a lot better than the big corporate giants that only sell parts . The vendors here also know what fits and what dont . Good luck with your build and parts hunting . NPD is also a good source and they have 4 locations I think and Rick the owner is great too.

Re: Parts (LMC vs. Classic Parts)

I got my trailing arm bushings and U bolts from LMC. Both those were fine. Got my springs, adjustable trac bar, and shock relocation kit from summit.
Got my rear fender bolt kit from SoKy Classics but have not used them yet.
U joints, carrier bearing, and axle bearings/seals from rock auto.
Will add a few listed here to my shopping resources list.

Thanks! I completely forgot about rock auto.

I am close to both Classic Parts & LMC. I buy over the counter at either. I buy most parts from CP. I find the quality on some items are better & the prices are cheaper.

For suspension pieces NAPA is my choice. They carried all the Moog pieces I needed for my Burban.

Don’t forget Jim Carter and Manes.
I was just at LMC yesterday and a week ago.
Got a gas tank for 1984 Scottsdale. Made in Taiwan and tank supports, not sure of origin of country but, both fit nicely. I’ve bought lots of stuff from them over the years with no problems.

Re: Parts (LMC vs. Classic Parts)

I have used LMC quite a bit lately. They ship asap and usually have the best price, with shipping included. So far everything has been fine. I also use Ecklers sometimes as they are just a few miles from me.
I am buying stuff like window regulator, handles, a gas tank, so not anything that would really need a perfect fit. Replacement stuff, like gaskets, brake stuff, steering components, etc I get at the local auto parts stores.

Re: Parts (LMC vs. Classic Parts)

All of my front end parts for my 72 4x4 came from Rock Auto. They were Moog
"problem solver" parts and they were way cheaper even with shipping than the local Napa store.
So they would be my first choice if possible.

Re: Parts (LMC vs. Classic Parts)

It seems LMC stocks the cheapest parts possible. Obviously some parts only have 1 manufacturer, so you can get crap parts from just about anyone. As already stated, the vendors here know their stuff, if its not up to their standards, they'll find a suitable product, or they just won't sell it. I use LMC as a last resort.

Re: Parts (LMC vs. Classic Parts)

I get most of my parts from Rock Auto.
Suspension parts - Moog (Problem Solver, NOT R-Series) or ACDelco (Professional, NOT Advantage)
Brake parts, I typically go for Wagner, Raybestos, Bendix, or whatever well known brand.
Most if not all of the parts you listed should be on Rock Auto. NEVER buy from the economy section if you can help it. Might be able to compare part numbers between sites.
Of the vendors for these trucks, I've used Classic Parts mostly, but also GMC Pauls, Brothers Trucks. The Truck Shop is usually at shows. Don't know that I've used LMC lately.
