72 GMC C10 fleet side, lwb - what is GVWR

Hi everyone. I have a question about Dad's GMC which was newly painted, brought home covered on a car dolly (not to scratch it up) and has been housed in a garage for the past 10 years. It gets started now and again (always rolls over 1st turn) but that's it. It has heavy duty front/rear springs (coil) 350 V8, 4 spd, 411. He modified it by adding air brakes. There is no sticker on door pillar. Husband has been buying tons of parts (tilt, chrome, carburator etc) and is hoping to doll it up some. Can find tons of boxes of parts and pieces he's ordered but can't find the darn paper work to tell me what size camper we can carry on it and tow the 1200 lb boat. Want to put the truck back on the road for summers but need GVWR before buying camper.
Anyone here got same/similar truck that might answer this question??

Thanks
Nell for Kevin

My 72 k10 is rated for 6000 LBS GVWR I carry a 8ft over cab camper...(Spirit West)... no problem. I did put overload springs in to carry my 10ft... (Slumber Queen)...but that was pushing it a bit with DOT(department of transport) with a C10 I wound stay with a 8 foot model no larger, and shop around for a light one, these trucks carry campers very well any thing on the spid sheet or a pic inside the glove box may help, hope this helps you out,

Thanks Chisler. Really helpful. I'll go look up Spirit West campers and do some comparison shopping.

Have to ask Kev if rear end was changed. The sheet in glove box says rear axle is 3.73 ratio (H05) not 411, F60 heavy front spring, G50 heavy rear spring, J70 hydraulic brake boost ... it's a model CE15934 if that helps any. K43 air cleaner, Z49 Canadian base equip.

edited ... no luck except for import truck. Do you know the dry/wet weight of yours?

Did a bit of research, and with the info you gave on the front/ rear spring package on your truck your GVWR starts at....5400 lbs but can go up to.....6000lbs depending on what type of tires you use.....Found this info in my 1972 service manual. If you plan on pulling your boat and trailer I would go with the 5400 lbs GVWR.

THE Spirit West campers are no longer being made....and Slumber Queen style are now called... Adventurer... and another good thing was that your truck came with the J70 power brake option,I did find a Spirit West camper for sale it was a 1990 but a 8 1/2 foot for 5,500.... Fraser Way RV sells the Adventurer brand but finding a used 8ft can be challenging as every one wants them.
