Another one underway! Meet project Savannah

I have been out of the loop for a few years, just going through some stuff but I wanted to share a new project Dad and I are working on. I am looking forward to reconnect with some old friends.

We went down to Savannah GA (Vidalia GA) and picked this one up Monday. 67 SWB, original stepside truck. 6cyl, 3ott. One owner, original title and sales invoice. It is probably the cleanest most rust free 67 I have ever seen. I have had a bunch of these trucks and it's uncommon to see an original rocker / cab corner 67 cab for sure. The paint isnt perfect but I will be repainting it anyway. I just bought it because it's so solid. Nothing special truck, very few options but it runs like a sewing machine.

The 90s bed is going to be replaced with a 67 Short fleet wood floor. 5/7 static drop of some sort, 4 wheel discs, Built 6.0LS and 4L80 combo. Stay tuned ! It should be interesting. :metal:

Glad to see another high potential build coming! It's been a bit slow here lately, and that's partially my fault too.

Chad and I were able to get the 90's model bed off and begin the process of cleaning 50 years of south Georgia sand from the frame.

Next step is lowering the rear, C-Notch the frame and add an adjustable track bar and performance shocks. Axles will be swapped out for new 5 lug versions and rear Disc Brakes.

A Boyd's Welding EFI tank is being fabricated and should arrive by the end of the month. The ACC medium blue loop high hump carpet came today and looks great.

One step at a time.

We are trying to build a nice all GM short bed with a wooden floor made form exotic African Mahogany. In our search for factory wood bed panels we found this super solid wood bed long wheel base.

The truck bed had been protected by a camper cover since 1970. The inside of the bed is amazing! The wheel tubs have just a few scratches and zero rust at the mounting flanges. The header panel is straight as an arrow and with no dents or rust. The rear bed sill and cross sills are perfect.

We will be using everything except the bed sides to build the short bed. We are still looking for nice GM swb bedsides.

We picked up a few things last week for the '67. A local C10 hoarder friend had a quick ratio power steering box for a '71 Cheyenne Super, tail light housings, nice GM seat belts, NOS Trico wiper blades and tail gate trunnions.
We got em all cleaned up and ready to go on the truck after it's painted.

The Boyd's Welding Tank finally arrived. It comes complete with fuel pump, mounting kit and fuel sending unit and is ready to drop in and go.

The tank is too nice to cover with a wood bed and the quality is amazing!

My C10 hoarder friend also welded up his version of a super strong set of C Notches. They weigh a ton, but will be perfect for our drop.

We got a complete drop out, 42k mile 6.0L LS engine and 4L80e home and now begins the process of doing a transplant on the '67. Chad will be changing to a Trailblazer SS intake, a hotter BTR cam and a set of 243 heads. The 317 heads are good heads, but the 243's flow much better.

Parts are being collected and plans are being made, so stay tuned!

The interior in Chad's truck is super nice. We will be changing the seat cover to a Cheyenne scroll pattern and new carpet. Plus, a high hump to give a little more clearance for that 4L80.

Our Moser 5 lug axles came in today. We have used them in a bunch of trucks and they really work nice. Also assembled the new tail light lenses on the restored housings with new gaskets, bulbs and stainless screws.

Now to snag a rear end cover gasket and some Redline Differential Oil for the axle update.

Looks like an excellent foundation for your build! How did you find a Gen III LS with only 42k miles on it???

My son Chad searched the whole East Coast for a nice low mileage 6.0.I'm sure he will chime in and tell you more about it.

They are out there. I found one complete with trans with 39,000 miles for three grand. Had to drive nine hours to pick it up.
