Part, sell, or build?

I’m struggling with what direction to go in. I ended up buying two trucks that were about 20 minutes from my house. Last thing I needed but, since they were so close I had to stop and take a look. Of course when you have this addiction, they end up following you home. My initial thoughts were the 72’ is way too rough to save even though it’s a Cheyenne super. The entire inside of the bed is rotted out along with the roof in areas and all the typical lower portions, hood etc. It has tilt column, nice wheel, full interior and the original big block that is complete and unmolested. I could take the entire chassis and drivetrain and put my restored 72’ cab on it and part out the rest. The black 70’ I was initially thinking is too unique of a truck to not try and save. It’s a factory black on red interior truck with the original big block still in it. The truck is all original. However, it has rust in the floors, rockers, cab corners, doors, and cowl corners. Bed and roof are in good shape. I was thinking I would try and save this one for a future project but, now I noticed the area below the rear window is crunchy and the firewall corners are rusted. Should this truck be saved, parted or sold to someone with more ambition to save it than I have for it? I have a 72’ blazer I’m finishing up this year, a 72 cab that is painted and ready for build, a buddys 70 c10 that I’m converting to 4wd and a 72 k20 suburban coming home with me soon as well. I hate parting trucks out but, I’m starting to feel like these are too far gone.

Just my opinion, I think you should sell or build either one.

Me personally, I would love to own a 1972 C20 with a V8, even better that yours is a big block.

The black '70 with red interior and big block is also highly desirable. What I'm getting at is I believe either truck is highly desirable to the right buyer. Speaking for myself as I've been looking for a 1972 C20 for a long time. The problem for you would be connecting with others who are looking for the trucks that you have. In your area of the U.S. trucks of this vintage are still available for sale but in other areas of the U.S. and Canada, these trucks are becoming more difficult to find.

I just parted out a 71 cheyenne big block truck. Sometimes its just easier to part them out and take the good stuff off

I feel you, it’s hard to see great ones like these parted. But that sounds like a lot of rust, sometimes you have to recycle them to help other trucks live on.

I use to be against parting trucks when possible but, now I view them like organ donors. Unfortunate but, necessary. I’ll probably just sit on them until I can make a decision. That black truck was beautiful when it was new.

The 72 I think someone already started parting that one out by the photos.

Is the 70 a C20 if so in my opinion it’s a coin flip. Now if it was a c10 swb get is running and stopping and pass it on to a new home, heck that might be a good game plan for that one anyway

Very nice scores! 2 big block trucks at one time is pretty hard to get these days. I feel ya on not wanting to part out many of these anymore. I got a 71 K10 Cheyenne Super with roof cab lights I knocked in the head last winter. It had a junk title so its fate was pretty much sealed unfortunately. I have no good advice for you other than use these trucks to save more K trucks.
