10 bolt issues

got a leaking wheel seal. pulled differential cover. carrier pin bolt came out with no issue. carrier pin is giving me lots of trouble. won't budge one way and I can get about 1/2" the other way (with a lot of persuasion). any tricks for this?

Work it back and forth then grab it with a pair of vice grips...this must have a posi?

wouldn't budge going the other way. still could only get about a 1/2" today. finally quit and put it back together for another day. needed to get to work on the front springs and shocks.
it's not a posi. I was actually gonna put a lunchbox locker in it while I was in there.
I've never had this trouble with a pin before. usually slide out with very little work

Some times they wobble the hole out in such a way that they get stuck.

This happened to a 8.8 I shortened for a guy. I end up heating the carrier a bit to grow the tolerances, and then beat it like it owed me money.

I did it on a bench which gave me more leverage

Stupid question does your pin have a small screw bolt in the area (center) of the pin ( some have screw helps hold the pin from sliding passed it. The screw think it a 3/8" head or reverse torque head. ) Once the screw out the pin slide much easier.

Did the retaining bolt break? I had that happen on a coperate 10 bolt front in my 77. The threaded part came out but part of the retaining bolt was left in the slit. Fished it out and got the pin out.

Is this a front or rear? If its a front and you can pull the axle ahafts i would just pull the carrier and deal with it on the bench. If its a C clip rear…

Diregard that leaking wheel seal it muat be a rear then
