Hazard Switch wiring
 

I am OK with wiring, but it always scares me for some reason. I get through it fine, but I always overthink things...anyway, I have a signal stat 105 hazard switch with original harness for a 64-66 truck (I think)...that is how it was sold to me. I also just purchased a new turn signal switch from AAW. I have an AAW wiring setup also. I was going to plug the 2 plugs from the turn signal switch to the hazard switch and then repin the end of the hazard switch to the AAW harness..sounded easy enough...until I looked at the wiring. I can't figure out which turn signal connection goes on top or bottom of the hazard switch. I thought the colored wires should line up, but they don't (blue to blue, green to green, etc). Should they or are some wires crossed to make the hazards work? Here are a few pictures that show the wiring of the harnesses. All the wires are present they just don't line up. If they are supposed to I can make that happen, but want to make sure before I do it. I searched google and here and found some info, but nothing with any diagram I could decipher. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The hazard switch has 8 wires and the turn signal switch only has 7. The AAW harness has 8...brown is there on the engine side but not the turn signal switch side.

In the 2nd picture the top row of the hazard switch is

purple
lt blue
dk blue
green

bottom row is
gray
pink
white
yellow

I did this on my truck but instead of using AAW’s Connectors on your turn signal wiring I replaced AAW connectors with OEM connectors then it all plugs together

Did you just have all the wires line up..yellow to yellow green to green etc throughout the harness?

I also have a flare stat 127 that has 4 wires coming out of the back, but they are all red. I assume they are the 4 turn signals and one would go to each turn signal wire...that might be easier.

Yes all the colors lined up instead of replacing oem with theirs replace theirs with oem then plug the the hazard switch in the red power wire went to the hazard wire from the AAW harness so you use AAW’ flasher the brown is not used

Maybe I am reading too much into this wiring...but on the hazard switch, I have a gray wire and a pink wire. Do you remember what those lines up to on the dash side of the harness since the AAW doesn't have pink or gray going to the turn signal switch. All the other colors are the same.

The wires on your hazard switch are not all the same quit worrying about them swap out the AAW plugs with your OEM connectors and they will plug into the hazard switch and work the only thing different is the brown which are for later model trucks forget about it I tried to figure it out myself when I realize switching the plug was so simple just switch one wire at a time take the yellow out of theAAW’s harness and plug it in where the yellow one was on the OEM and so forth down the line

I switched out my plugs in less than 30 minutes with shipping that adapters gonna be 40 bucks to me that translates out to $80 an hour

OK, so I could not get this switch working...if I lined up the wires nothing...the front 2 would stay on, but not blink. I emailed AAW and sent them pictures of the hazard switch and they looked and said the switch is wired for a 60-63 truck...so they sent me the wiring chart for the switch to the 64-66 truck. I am waiting on some connectors to arrive then I will wire it up. The red wire will go to the (brown wire) hazard flasher in the AAW harness so no need for the flasher on the hazard switch.

Will update pictures once I get it wired and working. Hopefully this will help someone else in the future.

What year is the one you have for sale? I guess I got lucky didn’t realize 60 to 63 was different I should have realized it as the wiring diagram in a AAW is different for 60 to 63 so just re-pin the hazard to match your truck

That's basically what I am doing making the turn signal switch match up to the 60-63 wiring on the hazard switch. The other hazard switch I have only has 5 wires...all red. I don't think it is specific to any year truck.

Finally got around to finishing my hazard switch setup. The above wiring diagram worked great. I made a wiring harness connector to mate between the AAW harness and the SW switch that had a pigtail for the hazard switch. All works as intended...except the flasher I bought doesn't work...I apparently did not buy an electronic flasher...so I tested with my turn signal flasher and the hazard worked...so once I get a new flasher it will be good to go!
